Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Mahrez seems to miss a lot of pens yet they keep giving him opportunities. He must be great in training.

Straight red for Gomez. Tricky for City now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,179 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Man City down to 10 players after another VAR review. Straight red for Gomez, he can have no complaints. Last man back.

Good goal for 2-0 to Maccaibi Haifa and they merit this lead. Juve shocking.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,024 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Christ, just saw their group table - they're in big trouble if they lose tonight! Hadn't realised they were doing so badly.

Could see Tuchel in place there by the next round of games if it ends like this.

  • Registered Users Posts: 216 ✭✭BobDole22

This Juve team are shocking they've destroyed Vlahovic. Their starting midfield is bottom 3 PL standard shocking.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,127 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

I honestly could not find a violin small enough for them fkers.

  • Site Banned Posts: 20,685 ✭✭✭✭Weepsie

He has a better goal return per game for Juve than he did at fiorentina for the 2 seasons he did actually score so not sure that's true

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,127 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

You would expect a player to have a better return for Juve in fairness.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,127 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

How do you let a man around you like that. Absolutely stupid from Tomori

    Very soft red in fairness.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,522 ✭✭✭dor83

How was that red for Tomori not rescinded by VAR? The penalty was enough punishment, even that could have been debated but surely he shouldn't have been sent off for it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 216 ✭✭BobDole22

That's an incredibly harsh red it's not great defending but still very harsh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,791 ✭✭✭✭JPA

That was a disturbingly bad decision. And backed up by VAR.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,127 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

He was a fking idiot for letting the man around him like that and he was the last man.

Time for Milan to give up and concentrate on the league the way we are playing in the CL.

Not an obvious error by the ref.

There was a foul, yes. However, there are plenty of worse fouls on players at Every corner of Every game - never given as fouls though.

Another letter of the law situation. Once a pen was given it had to be red for denial of a goal scoring opportunity. Harsh, but thems the rules.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,522 ✭✭✭dor83

I thought there was a rule a couple of seasons ago where they stopped the double punishment for those kind of situations, so it would be a pen and a yellow in the box or a red outside the box.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,250 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Poor by Giroud - a perfect position for a header for him, really should have scored.

  • Registered Users Posts: 531 ✭✭✭Infoseeker1975

It is not a red if the defender tries to play the ball so you can deny a clear goal scoring chance and it is a yellow. In this instance, he pulled him back so he did not play the ball. The ref has 2 choices; no foul and play on or give a penalty in which case it has to be a red.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,522 ✭✭✭dor83

Wouldn't be surprised if there is another red or two in the Milan v Chelsea match.

Only if the player makes a genuine attempt at the ball, which Tomori didn't. I think its incredibly harsh but technically a red

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,250 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

I'll be shocked if it finishes with 21 on the field.

Shakhtar take an early second half lead against Real.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,127 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

"leveling it up" is not a thing in most European countries. These clowns on BT almost think a red for Chelsea is inevitable.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,024 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Juve as good as out now with that draw in the PSG Benfica game. They'd need to beat both PSG and Benfica in their 2 remaining games, and pray one of them slips up against Haifa too. Could see Allegri gone in the morning to be honest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,050 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

Actually got annoyed by the red card for Milan.

It was very soft and the guy still got the shot away..its a contact sport after all.

The game had 75000 folk at it, it was a great build up, great atmosphere and ruins the complete game by a rubbish decision. Surely uefa need to address this. Ruins games as spectacles.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,877 ✭✭✭Pogue eile

Not sure why you were annoyed?

Got the shot away, contact sport, 75k in attendance, great build up and great atmosphere.

All lovely but all completely irrelevant and if the referee was to take any of them into consideration then he is not doing his job correctly.

Your annoyance should be directed at the defender who wasn't able to defend and made a balls of the situation. Referee was 100% correct

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,127 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

Exactly this. I hate the whole "referee ruined the spectacle" thing. The player who broke the rules ruined it.

It did really ruin the game for me though. Had been thinking about the game all day. Dinner on, beer opened and before the game even gets going I was so annoyed I couldn't keep watching (I'm very rarely a leave early person). It was such a bubble bursting moment.

Outside of the red Pioli needs to realize we can't play like "the big team" and go with our usual tactics when up against Premier League sides.

Napoli vs Ajax looks a good one. Not expecting the same amount of goals as the last fixture but hopefully a few.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Didn't take long. Lovely headed goal by Lozano after Zielinski's perfect pass.

2-0 Napoli. Raspadori with a super finish. Not even 20 minutes gone.

Cracker of a second for Napoli - kepper didn't see it ! The form team in Europe!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

2-1. Game on thanks to Klaassen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,024 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Bloody hell that looks a harsh enough handball...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Another contribution off the bench from Ndombele, although it's a harsh pen award.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Bergwijn makes it 3-2 from the spot. I don't think that's a pen.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,250 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Another soft pen, Ajax have so many forward players on, they will probably get caught for a fourth.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

What was that? Can't do that with Osimhen about.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,250 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

    Awful defending really.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,067 ✭✭✭✭martingriff

Ajax deserved to lose with the defending on that goal alone. I mean WTF

17 goals on 4 games is just unreal.

Napoli are the Haaland of the Champions League.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,090 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

0 goals conceded for Brugge in 4 games, against some CL regulars. Fair play to them, pretty much have their place booked in the next round now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

1-0 Rangers. Looks like Carvalho who lost it.

1-1. Firmino continues his strong form.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,250 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Yeah, he hasn't gotten into the game yet. But I think he will get a few chances to as Rangers will offer up a chance or two.

Edit and Bobby heads in a nice equaliser.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Dembele puts Barca ahead. Good work from Raphinha.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Barella levels for Inter. Defensive howler from Pique.

Nice goal from Barella to make it 1-1

Bobby gets a second. Gomez with a very nice assist.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,250 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

A tale of 2 penalties in the Leverkusen game, homeside missed one in the first half, away side score one in the second, 0-3.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

    Pique having a poor game.
