In a world full of woeful co-commentators Robbie Savage stands tall above all others.

    1-1 !!

The game has finally come alive

    Game on!

Walked away for a few minutes. Came back in just as Benrahma was dispatching a penalty. Watched the replays, that's very harsh on Fiorentina, the same kind of #### that happened in the FA Cup final.

Need to catch up. Fiorentina equalise while I'm watching replays of the first goal. Justice done in my opinion.

Knew we would be in trouble with Zouma going off. Kehrer is dreadful in a two man central defence.

Good to see the team actually playing football get one back.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,449 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

He punches the ball away from Bowen. Not sure how it could be a clearer penalty.

thats a bad miss by fiorentina

Should be 2-1 Fiorentina. Poor finish, not even on target from 10 yards out.

Antonio blessed the flag went up there - would've been a shocking 1-on-1 miss in a final otherwise.

I wonder would Fiorentina have gotten a penalty if they hadn't gotten the goal, lad was taken out of it in the air from the diagonal ball.

Fiorentina certainly on top since the penalty though

I wonder if Delaney thinks rice was at fault there!

Hope for the best seems to be Moyes' tactics.

West Ham's passing is just atrocious... often without even being under pressure. Feels like they're very nervy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,198 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

So, West Ham don't have their shirt sponsor since it's a betting company and that's not allowed in Spain - but just a min ago all the billboards round the ground were for Bwin, a betting company. Seems a bit odd...?

Great ball. Thought VAR was gonna ruin the moment.

    Bowen is class

In fairness, if VAR is ruling out those, something is wrong. The offside rule was originally to stop strikers hatching in the box, not for picking it up in almost your own half and running the pitch to slot home.

Calling it now - with Rice gone and Moyes virtually unsackable, West Ham are getting relegated next year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,325 ✭✭✭✭rob316

Congrats delighted for the hammers and moyes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,358 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

I walked away again. I thought the game was drifting to extra-time. Obviously not. So West Ham won. Ah well, nice for West Ham to win something. They can brag about that over Spurs fans.

Delighted for the West Ham fans

Look, of course the circumstances are different - but the visceral difference in exactly what a trophy means between the reaction of West Ham players tonight and the City players last weekend... even aside from the obvious City issues, it really shows up how much better football is when the trophies aren't stockpiled by the same few clubs.

You would swear it was an Irish team that won this judging by the tone on Virgin Media.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,674 ✭✭✭AllGunsBlazing

The way it's going the conference and the europa might be the only trophies anyone else in the EPL will be winning for a while.

    I'd echo that.

He's been a good manager in his time and deserves more success than a community shield to his name.

    Glazers Out!

I must say the West Ham jerseys are unique haven’t seen one like it.

A disappointing week for Italian football all the same, Roma losing the Europa League final now Fiorentina losing tonight and Inter about to get demolished by City on Saturday.

The glory days of the 80's and 90's feel a long time ago at this stage.

    Glazers Out!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43,028 ✭✭✭✭SEPT 23 1989

No teams were stockpiling trophies in the 80’s and 90’s of course

time stands still for no man

The point wasn't about City specifically - it's about football. Football is worse when the same few teams win everything. Seeing how much that really genuinely mattered to West Ham players tonight was a bit of a reminder of what winning can mean.
