20,000 + words in Microsoft word doc has disappeared after the dog jumped on the keyboard!

Anyone any idea how to get them back, weeks of work seemingly gone!

Had you created any save point?

Have you looked in recycle bin?

is the file deleted or the text gone in the file?

always good to create a new file version now and again to limit damage and store an online copy also in google drive or similar

Depends on the version of Word. Do you have Auto Save on? In the title bar, if you click on the name of your file, is there a drop down?

Does word not have autosave on ? If I was working on a story or project I'd be saving copy's every day, day2, day3, day 4 doc, separate files, maybe backed up to cloud or at least 2 folders on 2 drives, pc drives are now 500gig plus, docs take up very little space. If a dog jumped on the keyboard, does there not be a prompt, do you wish to delete this document,? I don't use word, i not a writer, do you not have autosave on, eg save every 20 minutes?
