Why do so many crypto founders look like oddballs?

I've been reading about the founders behind various crypto projects that are still in the Top 10, or launched to huge hype, and are now almost abandoned. What I couldn't help but notice is that a lot of them look like creepy weirdos. Is this a crypto libertarian thing? Are these the basement dwellers that have become part of popular culture?
