Cancellation of insurance claim

Hi all

can you cancel an insurance claim on your own policy ?

my car was damaged,I told my insurance company too proceed with claiming off my policy,once I heard the access €750 I’d have too pay(damage is less) I now want too cancel my claim.

can this be done ?

would it effect my NCB ?

any advise would be great,

Even if your excess was zero, it wouldn't be worth pursuing that claim.

To answer the question, yes, they will drop the claim if you ask them to. They weren't going to pay you a cent anyway.

Surely a fully comp policy has a duty too pay out in case of a claim on my own policy.

Subject to the terms and conditions of your policy.

An excess being one of those terms and conditions

ALL policies will have some level of excess, yours at €750 is on the high side

They only have a 'duty' to pay if the claim is greater than the excess. Because you have undertaken to cover claims up to the level of the excess. So for a repair bill of less than €750, you have to pick up the tab and there is no claim.
