Trail Cam Recommendations

Posted this up on the birdwatching form but didn't get any responses.

I'm looking to get a trail cam. It will be on private land so I don't think there is much of a risk of it getting stolen but you never know who would be around.

Budget is up to €200. I don't think I need one that can take a sim card but if its only €30/40 extra I might go for it.

Species I'm looking to photo/video. Fox, badgers, pine martin and deer.

I've read up on all the different features and the one I'm not sure about is the no-glow/low-glow one. I don't think the limited range of the no-glow will be an issue as all the spots I have in mind, 20m range would be enough. Is it worth getting a no-glow.

Most of the spots would be in forests or have tree cover if that makes any difference.

Any recommendations. Maybe would I be better off to start with a cheap one to see how I go with that.

If you want to try out one that you can return easily search Amazon for campark trail cameras.I had 2 but both goth broken by ponies pulling at them and destroying leds

I have a SPYPOINT Link-Micro Cellular Trail Camera, they are about €230 - €250 as far as I remember. It connects to an app on your phone and sends the photos it takes straight to your phone. I personally find this feature worth the extra money of not having to take out SD cards every few days and just being able to see live in the moment what's going on.

Whether or not it's worth the money for you is another question, I have no complaints with it though. Don't know too much about all the technical stuff but it takes pictures and sends them straight to me day and night.

Spypoint micro LTE trail cam.About 230 in Wildhunter.Bought my second one of these last month, after the first started going wobbly with software issues, after living out in the woods non-stop for two-plus years. Stay away from the solar models, they have issues with water getting into them

Here a big shout-out to Tomas Jacks LTD in the UK who are the UK/IRL dealers /repairs. They fixed the camera under a 2-year warranty and replaced the broken housing that holds the tree strap.

The Spypoint is the easiest system in trail cams to operate and install, compared to the Chinese WISH models and others. You do it all off your smartphone and their website, you just need to get a 32 gig microSD card for it. Which is needed for data logs and can be used to store pics too.

The 100 pics a month free plan is good enough for me, and it can get expensive if you buy into all their add-on features if you need them. I would advise getting the 12-volt battery kit,as they can be a bit battery hungry.

All in all, I'd recommend them.
