Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi All,

I have not posted in here for soooooo long, I hope everyone is doing well :-)

As as present to myself, I was looking to pick up 2 X Sinden Light Guns for my Point Blanks game fix. The cost is a big factor though, €300 quid eant cheap.

    https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-sinden-lightgun#/

Has anyone here bit the bullet and purchased these? Any feedback would be great. 🔫

I know Doge was singing their praise.

Yeah Doge was saying it's brilliant, I'd love to pick one up myself.

Apparently you can now get them working with the PS1 and PS2? I wonder how that works given you've to have a white boarder around the image.

There is a guy on youtube Boojakascha that has reviewed 100's of light guns. An expert. He recommends "gun4ir" over sinden.

Personally I use the old actlab guns on CRT for old CRT "flashing screen" gun games and then switch to the aimtrak guns for modern non-flashing ones.

I'd like to try sinden and gun4ir though.

bought one last year and overall very impressed. few caveats with that though:

    • i am in no way an expert so im coming at it from someone who is a very casual user. i actually haven't used it in a number of months due to my current setup
    • have just used it on windows so i have no experience of how well it works with PS1/2 etc
    • personally find it a little heavy for longer sessions
    • the tracking is very, very accurate but not perfect all the same
    • lighting conditions etc of the room can affect the tracking

its a bit on the expensive side for a casual user but if its something you will get good use of then its well worth it

I have a couple of them. They do the job.

I have a raspberry pi setup so its great to plug in anywhere and play.

There's a bit of tinkering at the start, but not too much. The hardest part was finding ROMs that worked tbh. I'll be moving back to a Windows MAME box soon so that should help with ROMs and performace.

They do a job, as I said. I think someone recommend the AE lightgun over them. I'd say every lightgun has its pro's and cons, whether its price or accuracy, or tinkering with external LED strips, but I've found the Sinden's to be fine. There's also really good support from the official discord channel.

I found them a bit fiddly to set up especially on some games like House of the Dead but once you get going they're not bad. Still prefer Guncon on a real CRT though.
