I do enjoy this show, but I think it has gone a little meh.... of late. Don't know why, but just think they are not as forceful enough with the owners, as they used to be in previous series.

Anyway yer man Francis is a scream.

And that place has got SOOOOO much potential. The views! my god.

Hope they do ok in the end.

    I agree with this.

Tonight's show didn't seem to go much beyond a lick of paint (to some parts) and a tweaking of the name.

Previous series seemed to go much more in-depth into the business end of things, or be done over a longer time period, where you got to see some results, and they did a return visit a while after the main bit.

At least you were shown a timeframe, with months and years shown (I'm nearly sure, anyway). This one could have been filmed over two weeks in 2010 for all we know. (Unless I was too busy typing posts and didn't notice, obviously!)

As someone else posted earlier, it ended awfully abruptly.

Bit unsatisfactory as an episode of At Your Service.

But I have little doubt there's nothing but goodwill for the couple, and I hope it all goes well for them. If I'm down in Schull for my usual week this summer, I'll make a point of trying to get over there for a look!

Well.... it will be all Gaybo and yer man Stephen Fry giving out about God being bold and nasty on "The meaning of life" at 10.30. But I'm watching Dermot instead.

There will come a day when Dermot succeeds in finishing the renovations WITHIN budget. I'd be afraid of me life to get him to do up my house. Hiya Dermo, me budget is 20k. There y'are Spanish Eyes, that came in at 100k, but isn't it gorgeous!!

Gaybo's thing is all over uTube now anyway, so you don't need to watch it!

They did well considering they had "no budget". I'd love to go there on a painting holiday - or cooking holiday!

I agree. My in laws live on a tiny island in the outer hebridies, we go there every summer for 4-6 weeks. Kids love it. An old church was recently renovated there, featured on the restoration man tv show on ch 4. They have now turned it into an art gallery and artist workshop, jammers all summer. There are also music classes, classical & Scottish throughout the peak season. Huge potential for business there, once kids finish secondary school we are moving there. Have big plans, (fingers crossed). The northern lights in January/February are another highlight.

These kind of shows always have a shelf life and at your service has clearly seen its best days.
A lot of businesses apply to it so they can get free advertising and that's obvious in the lacklustre way they approach the advice.
The format is pretty mountainous, if you have seen one episode you've seen them all.

At the end of the day if there's no one coming through the door and the people are naïve or worse clueless at running the business, 2 men spending a few days with them and telling them to put a lick of paint up and get a better sign isn't really going to do much, apart from make for watchable TV.

As people have said Francis Brennan is the star of the show and not many people would watch it only for him.

I wish I had paid more attention to the shows now, I can't even remember which way a Toilet Roll is meant to hang. But I'll give the competition a lash :)

I normally love places like this, but I am thinking they will need to put a lot of money in to make it attractive.
