Oh I can't believe they don't like the new colour, I think it's gorgeous!

I'm sorry to say that this programme is only a pastiche (if that's the correct word) of what it used to be....

    Watch video
Sigh at the state of the place
    Arrive down, sigh some more
Come up with a mental timetable of works to be completed in the next two weeks, on a budget of a fiver
Relent half way through, and cut the works a bit
Have a relaunch in five minutes' time
    Roll credits

    All very...... unsatisfactory.... really.

Was this programme once an hour long?

I'd have to agree with you as much as I love Francis and John. It was better a couple of years ago when it was all proper hotels they went to.

    No wonder business got quiet!

    Fabulous, fabulous holiday though.

Looks like they put that cruiser into the bank when the passed it on the canal!

Painting that lovely wooden headlining on the boat with white paint!

    Sacrilege

Looks like they have done a good job on the barges

He's in charge of coming up with one pun per episode, think he did it at the beginning of the episode this week :)

He's backing out slowly, hoping no-one noctices he's gone.....

    Hate that pink exterior!

    Love the redecoration though! Elegant.

The place looks super - but were they given any advice that they didn't know themselves?!

    I HATE hydrangeas!

They're cabins, Francis, not bedrooms

But all quibbling aside, looks like they did a great job.

The whole programme has lost its original purpose, I'm afraid.

That makes me very sad to say, but I think it's time to kill it off.

    I love her dress!

There's so much light in some of the rooms of the house, beautiful. Really good job with the interior decoration... but the less said about the pink exterior, the better!

I'd almost forgive them the pink now I've seen the burgundy door, pretty.

What's with the 0044 phone number if you want to be on the programme

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 356 ✭✭Bobsammy

They did a good job on it but there's really nothing Francis said that was ground-breaking for them. Apart from perhaps the campsite idea.

They really should have painted the outside a different colour though!

A UK/NI phone number for an RTE production

Advertising for more entries there at the end so theres life in the old dog yet, Im glad even though I do agree with earlier poster that its only a pale shadow of what it once was. I suppose they're going to all these little B&Bs because any struggling proper hotels have either sank or been taken into NAMA at this stage!

Part of being in the EU means this kind of thing has to be put to tender and every EU company has a chance to bid for it.

I always wonder how well the businesses featured in these types of shows do once the cameras stop rolling ('revisited' shows aside) - I was in a shop during the week that was on an episode of Fergal Quinn's Retail therapy and it was super tired, definitely looked more like the 'before' than the 'after'...
