Good 2-1 win for Rennes over Nice but looked like a very nasty knee injury for Martin Terrier who was stretchered off. You could hear his screams on the nearby microphones. Ross Barkley got his first Ligue 1 goal and it was an impressive one:

There have been some cracking goals in this round of fixtures. Two standout ones in Troyes' 3-2 win at Strasbourg:

L'Equipe reporting that Martin Terrier has done his right ACL and meniscus, meaning the season is over for him and he could miss 8 months in total. Such a shame as he looked on the brink of big things. I'd say a move in the summer was quite likely. Now you'd have to wonder will he come back as the same player.

Julien Stephan and Lucien Favre sacked by Strasbourg and Nice respectively. Stephan tends to produce great results initially but seems to have a terrible case of second season syndrome. As for Favre, I like his character but he was really disappointing in this latest Nice stint.

Nice after Favre departs wallop Montpellier 6-1. Ross Barkley with a brace. Strasbourg also responded well to Stephan's departure by holding Lens to a 2-2 draw. PSG now 6 clear after beating Angers; Messi scoring on his return.

I had a look at Nantes vs Lyon which was goalless. Nantes had good chances to win it. Really hasn't worked out well for Laurent Blanc. Maybe his best days are behind him.

Rennes have beaten PSG 1-0 thanks to Hamari Traore's goal. Only caught the 2nd half but PSG were very poor. Joe Rodon had a strong game in defence. PSG with just 1 shot on target and their lead over Lens now cut to 3 points.

Saw a bit of Monaco's game earlier where they walloped Ajaccio 7-1 and Ben Yedder scored a 14 minute hat-trick. Ajaccio's defending was like something from several tiers below.

Arsenal loanee Folarin Balogun with his 11th goal of the season in the dying seconds to earn a point at PSG. Great moment for him and their 30-year-old English coach, Will Still.

The Guardian had a very good piece with Still a few days ago:

A few interesting deals on the last day of the window. Marseille have broken their transfer record by signing Vitinha from Braga for €32m. Don't know anything about him but reportedly they beat a few EPL clubs to his signature. Good window for OM considering they got him, Ounahi and Malinovskyi.

Nice have signed Terem Moffi from Lorient, initially on loan. Good acquisition for them I feel. He's joint second top-scorer in Ligue 1, one behind Mbappe, and should score goals if he gets the service.

Djed Spence has gone to Rennes on loan from Spurs. Captain and regular RB/RWB Hamari Traore has had a strong campaign but picked up an injury and is expected to miss 5 to 6 weeks. Understandable that they needed cover. Joe Rodon has done reasonably well there on loan, so it could be a good move for both parties.

Looks like Hakim Ziyech to PSG may have fallen through at the last moment.

Balogun has grabbed a hat-trick to move ahead of Mbappe at the top of the scoring charts. Arsenal have another quality player up top for next season.

Ounahi with a debut goal off the bench for Marseille as they beat Nantes 2-0.

Disaster for bottom club Angers, blowing a half-time lead over fellow strugglers Ajaccio to lose 2-1 in the 94th minute. Angers already look gone.

Wow Lecomte saved Mbappe's penalty but his foot was just off line. He then produced an even better pen save on the retaken pen. Lecomte also saved a pen at the weekend against Auxerre.

Mbappe now off with an injury. That's a concern for PSG.

Whoa, Hakimi just scored a sensational strike but it's chalked off for offside.

1-0. Got their goal eventually. Ruiz scores after good work from Hakimi. Deserved lead.

2-0. Messi scores via a nice Ruiz ball. That's the game.

2-1. Nordin makes it interesting with a fine goal.

3-1. Youngster Zaire-Emery scores off the bench to seal it.

PSG win it 3-1. Comfortable for the most part apart from a scare near the end. Messi very good. Renato Sanches offered more when he came on as well.

Lens beaten 1-0 at home by Nice is a blow for them. Marseille now 2nd, 5 points off Paris. Monaco edged Auxerre 3-2.

Rennes leading Lille 1-0 at half-time thanks to Gouiri's goal. Eye-catching debut so far from Djed Spence. His burst of acceleration causing Lille problems.

It ends 3-1 Lille after a great comeback win. Spence didn't have the same effect in the 2nd half but taking him off for Meling - who normally plays LB - was immediately punished with a Cabella goal.

Marseille beaten 3-1 at home by Nice. Poor performance from Pau Lopez who didn't deal with shots well for the first 2 goals. New record signing Vitinha hooked at half-time as well. Lovely finish by Brahimi to wrap it up:

Since taking over on an interim basis, Didier Digard has 13 points from 15, including wins over Lille, Lens and Marseille.

Marseille have knocked PSG out of the French Cup, beating them 2-1. Second year in a row they've been knocked out of the competition at the round of 16.

Teams into the quarter-finals: Nantes, Rodez, Lyon, Annecy, Toulouse, Grenoble, Marseille, Lorient/Lens.

Haven't had any input in this thread in a hell of a long time

Only French side left in 3 competitions now 💛💚

Billal Brahimi following up his great goal against Marseille with 2 more crackers tonight for Nice against Ajaccio. The second in particular was a real wonder strike.

Monaco beat PSG 3-1. Wasn't surprised given the PSG starting line-up:

Donnarumma; Danilo, Marquinhos, Bitshiabu; Pembele, Zaire-Emery, Vitinha, Soler, Bernat; Ekitike, Neymar.

Can't see them getting by Bayern as they've been in poor form and can't keep clean sheets.

Probably the game of the season in Ligue 1 today as PSG beat Lille 4-3.

PSG had been 2-0 in front, Lille turned it around and led 3-2, Mbappe equalised in the 87th minute, and a Messi free-kick in the 95th minute won it. There was one negative for Paris though as Neymar was stretchered off in tears. He might miss the Bayern tie now.

    Highlights well worth a watch:

Very ugly scenes at the end of Lille's 2-1 win over Brest. Lille coach Fonseca and Brest coach Roy looked ready to go at it. Fonseca was given a red and got in the linesman's face. As Brest searched for an equaliser, balls were being thrown on the pitch to try and disrupt play. Roy stormed off down the tunnel after the whistle after having a bottle of water thrown at him. I'd say there will be a few bans coming. Nice appetiser for Marseille/PSG on Sunday.

Just kicked off between Marseille and PSG

Great atmosphere as always, it's raining and I expect a few tasty sliding tackles.

I'm expecting a red or two.

Kimpembe collapses. He's moving but didn't look good in replays

    Messi to Mbappe, goal.

PSG go ahead on the counter against the run of play. Been all Marseille until Messi releases Mbappe and he slides it home

2-0. Mbappe returns the favour to Messi with a lovely pass to the 6 yard box for a Messi tap in

Pitch also surrounded by stewards with what look like riot shields to protect players taking throw ins from missiles being thrown

PSG should be 3 or 4 nil up - cutting the press out brilliantly time and time again.

Encouraging for the Bayern tie how well Mbappe and Messi are linking up.

    3-0. What a goal.

Dreadful few days for Marseille. After missing out on the chance to cut PSG's lead to 2 points and instead going 8 behind them, tonight they were knocked out of the Coupe de France by Ligue 2 side Annecy on pens.

    The semi-finalists:

Looking like Lyon's best route into Europe.

Hakimi could be in trouble. As horrible as the accusations are I did get a giggle out of his lawyer being named Fanny Colin, sounds like something you'd call someone in 5th class!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Mbappe became PSG's record goalscorer as they beat Nantes 4-2. Him and Messi were very good again but big questions once more defensively. Donnarumma shaky and was at fault for the first goal. Hakimi not involved after the rape charge. Wonder will he feature against Bayern? I could see PSG scoring in Germany but I'd be amazed if they keep a clean sheet.

This is a fantastic solo goal from Mamadou Camara for Quevilly-Rouen against Metz in Ligue 2.

Messi being a total pro here. Can't see why Barca want him back (marketing and nostalgia aside).

Sad to see the state of Marseille, they are in shambles.

When you have Aubameyang in your team, that's a big red flag right there
