    could I ask people their view on the strengths and weaknesses of Citrix virtual desktop environment.


    security

    maintenance

    user experience

    speed!!

    alternative options

    Can only talk about it from a user perspective but I've never really liked Citrix.

    I've never liked that companies that use Citrix require you to run this on your own devices when wfh. The security is an absolute pain in the hole, that the client cannot interact or grab files. It can make collaboration with external clients painful, especially if the likes of fileshares eg WeTransfer are prohibited.

    I never noticed that speed was a particular problem with it but I did note that some licensed software didn't play nicely with it, especially dongle locked software.

    I think it's fine in general admin type roles, but specialist technical I'm yet to be convinced.
