Hi I hope I’m in the right section, I need to get my identity verified for a consent form for medical treatment in another country and they said to use a notary, I contacted one today who quoted €500 plus vat to do this. Wound this be the standard rate and is it possible to get it cheaper from anywhere else? Thanks

Are you in Ireland? Does it require legalisation or an apostille or anything like that or simple notarisation? A fee that high should only arise where the person/notary is also presenting it to embassies etc. notarial fees are higher than commissioner for oaths etc (might be €50 per document) but nothing near €500.

    Should be 75 or 100.

I've had it done twice, once by a solicitor in Maynooth (75) and once by a lad in Portmarnock where you just rock up to his gaff (100).

Cheers folks it’s just to verify my identity, I’ll try a normal solicitor and see what they say
