I open an old steam press iron to remove and repair a problem in the water tank. I didn't touch the the electrics and now it's tripping the breaker the moment it's plugged in, even before I turn it on. It's all perfectly dry inside. I left it a day to give any moisture that might have been there, a chance to dry out. Is…

disconnect and tape up the wires going to the element, then see if it still trips.
