5 acres of tillage

Hi all,

My father is a tillage farmer. I have an option of some tillage land very close by but it is in two small fields - one 3 acres and one two acres. The rent would be very low (just the entitlements) but is there any economies in such small blocks. I will have access to the machinery for free in return for work. My thinking is the land will get me a start, a herd number etc. The other option is to lay down to grass and let to a neighbour.

Go for it...

I don't know the first thing about tillage, but uf tou have access to equipment, and its your own time you're using up....there cant be a better interest..

You'll learn more from doing than being told, and no matter what profit (if any) you can pull out of it, the experience will be invaluable..

Yes all works albeit combine is a bit of a pain moving with head etc.
