I was tempted to respond with a snappy comment but, seriously, most of the mods here are contributors to specific fora and have been for years and good contributors at that. They clearly care about the forum in question so it makes sense they'd want to care for it and keep it going.

Not all fora feature the aforementioned middle aged men crying like toddlers but of course some do, namely the political fora, soccer, AH and a few others. It's part of the gig. I wanted to mod Politics because I thought it was important to have a space on the internet that was open to anyone willing to post constructively and honestly instead of the social media habit of dumping memes and soapboxing for likes.

The manchildren do wear one down though. I've had no end of scripted responses accusing me of being a libertarian, a communist, a racist, a member of the far right, a Nazi, a socialist and the son of whoever murdered Jean McConville. This tedium is part of the territory as stated. The problem now is that virtually all modding tools are gone so modding feels like an exercise in futility now. We've had a year and there's been no improvement on the modding front whatsoever. I've had to siteban specific trolls but there's no record of who did that so I ended up stepping on an admin's toes. To be fair, it was my fault but it's also what convinced me that it's not worth it anymore.

A shame but one's time is precious. If the powers that be are going to dump everything on a few unpaid volunteers while doing very little if anything to restore features that were here 18 months ago then I'm honestly surprised that any mods remain.

It may be a persecution complex but here is what I think happened.

I think there is some facility in Boards where PM traffic can be seen. That Beasty etc has a way to see who is talking to who. He may not be able to access the content of those PM's or maybe has decided that is a step too far.

But somehow he knew there was contact and he assumed it was for the purpose that he has made his allegations on.

Oh, and it's pretty clear that some of you are discussing things behind the scenes

In what was a heated exchange he let that slip and is trying to cover by dog whistling in a mob(who are as responsible for the '40 pages' as anyone else) whom he knows will put two and two together as well (they already have) and rally to his support. Look at his first two posts here...for whose benefit were they?

He is directing those posts, not to the OP or me, but to those who have been piling on since. These are 'defensive posts' and his dogwhistling later in the thread over the 'evidence' should also be noted.

It is clear to me that a number of posters have been discussing how to challenge moderation behind the scenes. And yes the prime culprits have already posted in this thread backing each other up. I'm pretty confident the pair of them agreed to start this thread in Feedback

And just to add, whenever either of them do pick up a sanction or even a nil point warning the Pm exchanges are very lengthy. Typically running to over a dozen messages. They are complete timesinks who believe only their views matter

He isn't a government shill or in cahoots with this mob, he just needs them at the moment. In fairness, you have to admit they are doing a stellar job at trying to bully a lot of posters experiencing issues with moderation, off the thread.

you haven't a clue. They were given a six week siteban because it happened years ago but was only discovered recently. There are plenty here than can confirm it.
