Closing a Goodbody account

Just wondering if anyone has one of the above accounts, I had some BoI and AIB Shares some years ago when they were actually works a bit, i.e. just before the crash in 2008/2009.........I had a custody account with Danske Bank at the time, when they left the irish market I was offered and accepted that my account with them be transferred to Goodbody (circa 2015). The shares plummeted and were worth virtually nothing during 2015/2016, and I should have closed my Goodbody account at the time but for some reason I failed to do so. Due to a house move, I wasn't getting any correspondence from them and I only recently realized that when I finally managed to get access to my online account it is now showing a balance of €625dr, which means (as far as I know) that I owe them €625.

It transpires that they sold the shares during the period that I didn't get any correspondence/notice from them and used the funds to pay for the yearly fees that the sale proceeds would cover. They then continued to charge me the yearly fee of €125 for the past 5 years so my online account with them now shows that I owe them €625........I take it I have no option but to pay this if I wish to close this account....?
