Collecting Mountain Ash Seeds

When I collect mountain ash seeds from the tree - Can I plant them next spring or do I have to extract the seeds first ?

Extracting the seed can be a pain but they germinate well. You'd sow them now.

i usually am just lazy and treat them as they'd be treated in nature. sow them now where you want them to grow (which might be in a pot) as many seeds will need the period of cold over the winter to promote germination.

Outdoors and now, the winter gets them ready, can be pointless otherwise.
