Looking for a rough idea of how much it would cost to remove trees. Large conifers, On property looking at buying and wondering additional costs. Cut to the ground or remove stumps?

It depends on the situation. If they are 'open field', ie plenty of room for vehicle access and nothing in the way of falling timber it can be quite inexpensive, in a more complicated situation with buildings or fences or other damageable areas its going to cost a lot more. Of course it also depends on how many trees there are and what you want done with them when they are felled. You won't get a quote based on your information given, or even an approximation. You could be talking a few hundred to several thousand. What part of the country are you in?

40 years ago I could have told you but not so much now :-( As looksee says its very much down to access and space. You might get some one to take a row of overgrown leylandii quite cheaply if they can be straight felled into a garden or field. However if there are services like phone lines (we used to just climb the pole and take them down first) and overhead electric cables it becomes a much bigger job.

Then you need to get rid of it. Chipping is easy but you have to get the brash to the chipper and of course you need to get rid of the chippings. So if you can drive a chipper into the garden and have somewhere to dump the chippings the job will involve less labour. Worst case is if it all needs dragging out down the side of the house to the road.

If its leylandii then the wood not much good even for burning so there is more labour to get rid of it, but if you have a wood burner then you might as well keep it onsite and burn it yourself.

Wake me up when it's all over.
