My Mam was walking down the road when she saw a bus pull in at its bus stop probably about 200 metres ahead.

she saw a toddler waddle out behind the back of a bus. A coal truck was coming down in opposite direction speeding.

She could see everything in slow motion but could not help, not even scream. I don’t think she has gotten over it and it may have been 45 years ago.

That's common among people who witness things as bystanders, there's probably a lot of PTSD among these people. That wouldn't have been recognised at the time and no help would have been offered.

For a family it has to have a catastrophic effect, and also for the emergency services at the scene. I doubt that even the most empathetic person could imagine the impact.

Even the 22 month old baby in this family will live with the aftermath and the impact on their mother and brother despite being too young to remember it.
