Yeah nah I won’t be heading this year, it was way too busy last year but at least the lineup was alright, that latest poster they released is the pits. Can see the likes of beyond the pale and ATN doing well off the back of that. Reckon it’ll be body & soul for myself again this summer.

Wunderhorse are playing in Dublin again in October

Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Viagra Boys, Murder Capital & Gurriers are other good bookings but it’s slim pickings.

A lot of good young local acts to come but I don’t see the need for delay in announcing the likes of Pillow Queens, NewDad, etc if playing.

Expectations so low that it could have been worse. Though the top two lines are incredibly bad and I’ve no idea what’s going on with the bottom third of the poster. Still considering going, I count 15 acts I’d be happy to see though only 5/6 I’d make any special effort to see.

And the Wolfe Tones, surely down to Celtic Symphony (ooh aah up the Ra). A very odd booking for English promoters.

Getting ever more surreal in Stradbally.

    No she isnt.

Didn't she just finish a tour of the Uk and the venues were only 1000-2500 capacity.

Not sure it even sold out.

It its a blurred logo it could be Blur.

I thought from the months of comments that Bicep were a certainty?

They were the one I REALLY wanted to see...

A lot of young Irish indie acts are surely booked? Some from Sprints, NewDad, Pillow Queens, Nerves, Nixer, Mhaol, Clockworks, David Keenan, Enola Gay, etc.

Id also expect a few goodies amongst the listed acts I don’t recognise but not a splurge of them.

We also seem to have lost the quirky continental European acts and though it’s not my area of expertise there seems to be skimping on the Terminus bookings. No major names as opposed to last year.

First part of it looks like AvA. Playing lollapollaza Berlin for festival republic in September etc etc

    Snarky Snark Snark

Honestly think Brexshit has fucked us for smaller continental acts, we would have been a detour for a lot of them when touring the bigger island but they cannot do that now so we get screwed.

Likely put off smaller UK acts too.

Ava Max? Only one number one single here and the UK and that was five years ago. No top ten hit since 2018. No number one album.

Billie I like. This is trash.

But yeah, undoubtedly the kids are going to lap it up.

The biggest disappointment though is no Siouxsie, I really thought she'd be in there.

Never heard of her and while I may not like a lit of the "bigger" acts on EP radar at least I have heard of them. Still not sure of Fred again as headliner. Went to see him last year was decent and filled the tent but don't see as big enough for that slot on main stage

    Happy out with announcements today.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,658 ✭✭✭Seathrun66

End of the Road the same weekend has got some though - Fatoumata Diawara (Paris-based), Charlotte Adigéry, etc.

it is definitely greatly down to Brexit alongside FR. Booking acts for multiple fests, Berlin, Leeds, Reading.

How bad is 2024 going to be?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,792 ✭✭✭Fanirish

Charlotte adigery playing beyond the pale. Hence why not on EP

Ava Max, Mimi Webb, Steve Lacy I've barely heard of I'm sure they're targeting a very young audience. I'm really surprised with the likes of Ham Sandwich, Wolfe Tones, Saw Doctors, seem like complete outliers and not sure who they're targeting with those in 2023.

Seen Unknown Mortal Orchestra at FF a few years back decent booking for sure, I seen Fred Again twice last year at EP and Primavera, genuinely thing he'll be one to see, surely will have special guests too since it's a headliner spot (which surprises me as he was way down the list in 2022), not a huge fan of Lewes Capaldi but think he'd be great live, Jamie XX is usually very good. Hopefully crowd management is better at Billie Eilish this time, left after one song due to it been over packed (and there was a minor crush reported after). Haven't seen Idles or Flight Like Apes (somehow), but overall really not convinced at all as first two rows are very weak and most of the rest I've seen too many times before, will probably go to Body and Soul and something else instead, it's a real pity.

If you’re privy to the unannounced acts can we look forward to some good young Irish acts?

Not to raise any undue hope here but are we sure that missing Sunday headliner is not Aphex Twin? Know the possibility of him playing has been discussed to death here, but that blurred name does not look far off saying "Aphex twin" at all

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,590 ✭✭✭✭bodhrandude

Oh man!!! Don't do this to me please. And I'm sure the second word begins with T, there's not really a p after the A though so there you go.

If someone here who is "privy to information" can correct me and say 100% it's ava max, then fair enough, but just eyeballing the blur I'm holding onto some hope

Or I could potentially be looking into this blur a little too closely 🙈🙈🙈

Roy Orbison would still put on a better show in 2023 than Ava Max i say

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,590 ✭✭✭✭bodhrandude

Well his Sunday is free seeing he's playing Bristol and Portugal that weekend, yeah give me some Aphex Acid, Phuck Ava Max :)

Looks more like "Wet Leg" to me from looking at the Reading/Leeds lineup poster.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,402 ✭✭✭davywalsh7

really surprising we didnt get bicep and foals

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,589 ✭✭✭RINO87

Blurred out one looks like Fatboy Slim to me. I have no idea if he's still gigging or has been ruled out already tho. Its just what jumped out at me when I saw it

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,792 ✭✭✭Fanirish

Not privy to any further EP acts, had posted here previously that Ethel cain, young fathers would be playing but that’s all I really heard this year.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,590 ✭✭✭✭bodhrandude

Wouldn't be surprised it will be 10 years I think when he last played.

    Heres my thoughts

Firstly the poster is one of the ugliest they have ever put out.

EP lost the magic for me a long time ago and haven’t been since 2017. It was clear then that the homogenisation of the festival had begun. It has no taken over. There are some good acts in here for sure Young Fathers, Mary Wallopers and Amyl and the Sniffers are good acts. But the surroundings of it are not attractive at all. Looking at this lineup I won’t be back.

Booking the Wolf Tones is one of the most random booking I can think of. There will be a rough crowd at that…

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,723 ✭✭✭Stillill42

Well look. It's not a shock. Idles, Johnny, Amyl, Steve Lacy, Fight like Apes, Murder Capital, Mary Wallopers, Viagra Boys, Young Fathers, Gurriers. The real disappointment, as with last year, is the barren wasteland revealed when you start dipping a toe into the stuff you don't know. Always used to be the exciting bit, so little there now. After an admittedly very cursory trawl through the rest of the poster, nothing stands out bar Chalk,( surely mates of Gurriers?), maybe Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Royel Otis, a catchy Aussi guitar duo. From initial announcement on last year, it was disappointment after disappointment with the honourable exception of Jerry Fish so I'm not expecting anything of note from here on in. Those big late hits we used to get with great announcements from Body and Soul, Other Vouces and Jerry seem to be things of the past. As Thundercats said, once you're there, sun shining, can in hand, you'll undoubtedly knock a great weekend out of it but I don't think I'll be enticed back this year.

Also there doesn't seem to be one hip hop artist on the lineup which is strange
