Insuring after the driving ban

Hi everyone, just wondering if there is anyone who can share their experience with quotes, companies etc. (after being disqualified)

I just got my license back after a 6-month ban (points). Called my broker who said he's not in the business anymore. Just want to understand if it makes any sense in trying to get a reasonable quote, or if it's possible at all.... Online systems ask for a reg which I don't have as I didn't buy a car, I just want to get an idea of what's possible. I'm 59, have a full non claim bonus, full license for 30 years.

Would be grateful for any info.

It would depend on why banned and other driving history. Ring some brokers and they might be able to help. There are some specialist companies that specialise in hard to insure people. You will get a quote eventually but it will be high.

Some people wait 5 years and then I don't think you need to declare the history. Also worth asking now to consider options.

Some companies offer short term car and insurance packages for those stuck. If say you needed a car for a job this might work out more reasonable if you don't have a large lump of money to fork out.

Spoke to few already - been treated as a leper :-)

No drink driving, just points. No claims, accidents, nothing.

Thanks ZG..... will try your link.

Just points means you got 12 points for various reasons maybe repeatedly speeding or other reasons. Insurers would be rightly putting you in high risk category of getting involved in an accident or claim.

If you "accidentally" speed try to get car with speed readout and automatic bong warnings. I set my cruise control to the gps speed limit so I drive right on the line, so I don't get any more points. It takes 3 years to get rid of them
