Wasn't great but there was a bus to boyne and carrick each night

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,629 ✭✭✭LowOdour

Thanks @Mucker46 - that might be a better approach. I see the bus numbers on the website so will give them a ring, but any chance you know/heard where drop offs I those places were.

Anyone volunteer at this festival? Just looking for feedback. Deadline to buy the voltureering tickets is approaching.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 549 ✭✭✭Limerick91

I haven't volunteered but the feedback that I have received from volunteers is very good

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,924 ✭✭✭Mucker46

Middle of both. I was a bit outside carrick and driver kindly dropped me out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,040 ✭✭✭paulbok

@Limerick91 hoping you might know this for me.

Do all the wristbands on a family ticket need to be collected at the same time?

Got an earlybird family camping ticket which suited at the time, but we've decided not to camp (only live 20 mins away). Probably only going to bring the kids now for a few hours on the Sunday and I'm likely to be the only one there all three days. I suspect they do, not a major hassle to run down on the Friday and collect them all but just want to be sure.

Going for the first time this year. Is it advisable to buy reusable cups in advance? I know forest fest had them but were out of them by second day.

I think they ran out of them last year so it might be no harm.

They are a nice cup I will be using mine for the third year this year

A friend told me that Bog Bodies are playing at Night and Day. He said he saw the at another festival and recommended check them out here. I don't see them listed on the line up or stage times. Anyone any idea if there could be last minute additions? Getting close now!! :)

Ah maybe that's where he's getting that idea. Pity, he highly recommended them. Looking forward to it now.

Did play last year and while not my usual cup of tea found them totally absorbing. Great show.

Quick question, what are the stages like beyond the two listed above? Looks like three on the map, all tents? Are there any outdoor stages, even tiny?

Looking at bringing my 3 year old to a festival that weekend to trump his older sister going to Taylor Swift 🤣 Thanks to the answers about kids above

I was trying to weigh up this or Kaleidescope and think this looks much better all round, just wondering if there's much scope for sitting in the sun chilling with background music rather than the fully focused stuff in the bigger tents, I suspect he won't let me away with much of that!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,924 ✭✭✭Mucker46

Never brought kids but there are activities on sirmte and have also seen plenty of kids, and their parents, lounging around or playing inbthe open areas

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,930 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

Yeah, the family zone looks great on the website. Just wondering how much music I can take in to keep me happy as well as him 🤣

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,924 ✭✭✭Mucker46

If over 5here very little if hanging around nearer tents plenty

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 549 ✭✭✭Limerick91

The third "stage" is the kids/family area. The sides on this stage is lifted to give easy access and viewing for parents. The site as a whole is enclosed by palisade fencing so it is safe for kids to wander around.

We have had excellent feedback on the kids activities.

There will be plenty of picnic benches where you will be able to chill out and listen to the music from the larger tents/stages.

Feel free to send a DM if you have any other questions

Still playing with the idea of getting a ticket and going to this with our 2 older girls (12 and 8). Have a campervan ticket from someone who can't make it and use of their campervan too which makes it super tempting.

I'd recommend it. A lovely relaxed festival perfect for kids. And in a setting where you can pass a few hours wandering around Forest Park.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 841 ✭✭✭Dr Pepper

Anybody know if there are kitchen facilities at/near the campsite? (cooker is the main one I'm interested in, and a kettle for tea!). Website says no camping stoves allowed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 841 ✭✭✭Dr Pepper

Got a reply from the organisers: "There is a communal area in the family campsite, it has cooking hobs, microwave, fridge and freezer. It's not that big but we don't expect there to be excessive demand given the hot food traders in the arena."

Happy days! There's only so many hotdogs/burgers you can eat in a long weekend ;-) Really looking forward to the weekend…

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 220 ✭✭turnfan

The campers kitchen + facilities in the campsite is excellent. It puts all other festivals everywhere to shame.

See everyone down there! I'm bringing my folding caravan, if ya spot me around call over and say hello!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,924 ✭✭✭Mucker46

So jealous can't make it this year. First two were amazing and thi k this year will be great but does lack the international act ala John Grant mercury rev but the atmosphere and the staff and attendees are brilliant

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 132 ✭✭lisabiscuit

On the road! See y'all very soon :)

Not a bad festival, great location and laid back atmosphere, but Je$u$ H Christ, the queues on Saturday for everything were demoralising.

Even with big time gaps between acts you could just about queue and get a pint, For food, no chance. spent 20 mins queuing for a burger only to get to the top and be told they had no chips left and only took cash - festival was advertised as cashless, Then moved into the queue for a pizza and when I got to the top of that they stopped taking order to let the oven reheat. Ended up leaving the queue as didn't want to miss the start of the next band. I won't even get into the cost of the food.

The music was great though, The 4 of us, Undertones and Ash put on a great show, alas I had the kids with me on Sunday and didn't get to see anyone, was really looking forward to the Franks.

We're likely to go again, I'd imagine the organisers will improve the services to lessen the queues, but will be bringing more food & drink to keep us going

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,040 ✭✭✭SteM

Were both of the stages under tent?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,376 ✭✭✭✭rossie1977

The problems you mentioned have been ongoing since the first iteration of the festival in Castlerea back in 2022 which i mentioned in my review on first page of this thread.

Looking back and having attended Forest Fest last year where toilets were plentiful and food/drink vendors were easily accessible at any time of the day despite the horrendous weather we experienced especially on Saturday makes Night and Day look rather amateurish in comparison on the facilities front.

    Yes the stages are tents.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,924 ✭✭✭Mucker46

Interesting was at first two, unfortunately couldn't make this one, and never had to queue for more than a couple of minutes for food or drink. Queues are not a good thing so hopefully will be better next year, I will be back to it as really like the vibe and music

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 220 ✭✭turnfan

The Queue for the drinks was long at times, the reusable cups meant no prefilled pints, I assume they allowed people to bring cans in once this became apparent? They should have just sold boxes of cans

I only queued for drinks once, so I didn't affect me much…a cheap weekend sipping cans was wonderful!

A second bar would have helped a lot.

Food - the Rice and Bean chilli was a steal at €8, I combined this with a chicken between 4 of us and had a full meal!!

No complaints about the food from me!

The festival has become more family focussed, and as a result - while this will make it more successful , it will probably be less appealing than it was originally pitched as: an "Other Voices" type outdoor festival with a blend of Irish and International acts.

Had a ball at Ash and Bell X1 and Gemma Hayes was just amazing as always.

If anyone has been to Night and Day this year and Kaleidoscope last year, could you tell me how they compare? Looking for a switch from Kaleidoscope next year and wondering if Night and Day would be suitable (6 and 8 y/o kids). Are big family tents allowed / the norm in the family campsite?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 220 ✭✭turnfan

While I haven't been to Kaleidoscope, I would say Night and Day is suitable for around that age group (Maybe 8 is a touch old…depending on child's interests)

Big tents are allowed in the family campsite, I saw some whoppers in there!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,040 ✭✭✭SteM

No entry allowed between ages 14 and 20, not sure I would describe that as 'family focussed' tbh. Sounds fair.

    Quick question

Presume the 135euro Tier 1 Weekend Camping - Family Campsite is per adult?

    U14 2euro ea

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,900 ✭✭✭budgemook

Ah right, so a bit more for younger kids?

for 2024 the Early Bird Family ticket was 175 for 2 adults and up to 5 children…

A big price increase for families so maybe they are pivoting away from that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 850 ✭✭✭BullBauld

I found the queue at the bar fine for the most part, maybe another counter could be opened but no wait was too long.... unless you joined right after the big tent finished.

Great weekend overall, a few improvements around the general car park needed though, one route in and out of the field.

The Wailers were very good at ATN this year, fun band. Not sure about Jose Gonzalez as a headliner. Shark School good and wow, Frank Skinner for the comedy :-)!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,924 ✭✭✭Mucker46

Happy with that first announcement. Wailers real fun, stunning always a good show, shark school I really like and haven't seen Lisa Hannigan for a while. others I am happy to listen to/discover. Presume Harvest on Thursday like Merseyside beatles this year. They are really good

Really impressed with this lineup so far! I haven't been to this festival so hoping this will be my first year.

Did they sell day tickets for previous years?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,930 ✭✭✭✭Electric Nitwit

Definitely were day tickets last year, I picked up a Sunday ticket that morning and headed over. Not sure when they were released though, I'm afraid

Highly recomend Bog Bodies for anyone who is going to be there.

The Jose Gonzalez website lists him as playing Saturday night.

KT Tunstall is playing Glasgow on the Friday night so possibly headlining Sunday night.
