Hello,

I have an interest in joining the Guards or Fire Service but don't have a Leaving Cert.
In the recent Garda recruitment campaign, the requirements were 5 passes in the Leaving Cert in any subject at any level or 120 credits on the NFQ which is a Level 5 Major award.
According to careerservices.ie, the Fire Service's requirements are 5 passes in the Leaving Cert at any level -but specifically asks for maths and English as 2 of the 5 subjects- or an exam in at least equivalent standards.
Does anyone know if a NFQ Level 5 Major award would cover the requirements for the Fire Service like it would for the Guards? Unsure because they specifically ask for maths and English.
