    20-22nd October

I wonder will they still be open?

    Does anybody have any recommendations?

    I see the Hirschgarten: https://www.hirschgarten.com/

I am aware of the Augustiner chain, who have a beer garden on Arnulfstrasse.

I now read that Augustiner own the Hirschgarten.

    Any other recommendations?

    I am willing to travel.

I am considering going to Kloster Andechs, that looks good, and a 5km walk will work up a thirst.

    Hi Geuze!

It is all really weather dependent if the beer gardens will be open at that time of year, both the hirshgarten and augustinerkeller that you have mentioned have restaurants with dedicated outside seating that would be open regardless of the weather but the actual biergartens might not be at that time of year. I think the Biergarten am Chinesischen Turm would likely still be open at that time of year even with slightly bad weather.

I can still reccomend to visit Munich, if the biergartens are closed then you can still visit the beer halls and get the maß beer that is served in the biergartens. There is the obvious Hofbrauhaus (which will have a live band), Augustiner Bräustuben (a short walk from the Augustinerkeller), Paulaner am Nockherberg and a lot more are worth a visit.

Andechs is a great walk to do from Herrsching am Ammersee, again if there has been rain the walk might not be as pleasant but worth a trip on a good day as the beer is worth the hike! A new brewery also opened in Herrshcing - Brauhaus Herrsching which I would also recommend visiting.

I live in Munich and and happy to give you some recommendations if you do come or if you have any questions let me know! Munich is a great city, easy to get around and fantastic beer!

    Thank you very much.

I had not heard of the Augustiner Braustuben.

Their website is strange, each outlet seems to have their own webpage.

What is the difference between Edelstoff and helles?

Why is the helles just 3.20 in the Augustiner Braustuben, seems a too low price for city centre?

The Edelstoff is the export version of Augustiner and stronger % wise than the regular helles, both are great beers and easy to drink. It's so cheap in the Augustiner Braustuben as the brewery of Augustiner is directly at this location. The brewery takes up a lot of the street and you'll see the brickwork all the way down. I think before corona hit it was under 3 euro for a pint in the Braustuben but has gone up slightly but still very cheap and a maß at 6.40 is great value. It's a good spot to visit and can recommend for the beer and the food!

If you have to do the tourist thing and go to Hofbrau I quite like Augustiner am Platzl, which is just across the street. Nice cozy little place. They have outdoor seating but no idea if that'll be there in late October.

Thanks, that's a fourth Augustiner pub to put on the list, although I try to avoid overly touristy places.
