Bobby's ghost appearing in the fridge in Home And Away, a soap with no previous nods to the supernatural, as far as I know anyway.

I remember watching that at the time, Diffrnt Strokes would from time to time do issue based storylines or "very special episodes". Nothing could have prepared you for this though, the sense of unease is compounded by the studio audience laughter.

Probably just as safely labeled under jumping the shark. In the final season of Dukes Of Hazard there was an episode with a UFO and aliens. As with the Waltons poltergeist they're real aliens, not Scooby Doo type baddies in masks as you might expect, which is pretty mad for a non sci-fi comedy drama.

That was from what was known as a Christmas tape, they were made for staff who had to work over Christmas and were not intended for broadcast. A few others have leaked over the years such as from Bullseye.
