Schedule has been released. It's pretty much last year again, just with a couple swaps and the move to downtown Detroit.

Big news today - Nascar champion Kyle Larson is to race at next year's Indianapols 500 in a McLaren labelled a McLaren Hendrick.

Car will be sponsored by Hendrick, Tony Kanann has already been announced as driving an extra McLaren at Indy in 2023.

Its possible that Jimmy Johnson will also compete in 5th Ganassi this year ,and against Kyle in '24,though traditional sponsor Carvana is struggling with various difficulties at the moment.

ROUND 3 — Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach

Off wesht, and hoping someone doesn't suddenly end up in the fountain this year (stares at Pagenaud).

And since we're not on the same week as an F1 race, it seems that the boffins at Sky decided that some INDYCAR is perfect to fill in the barren landscape that would otherwise be the F1 channel; with plenty of repeats on as well in case you can't watch live!

    Friday 14th April

    • 5pm — St. Petersburg race replay
    • 8:25pm — Texas race replay
    • 11pm — Practice 1

    Saturday 15th April

    • 1:15pm — St. Petersburg race replay
    • 4:45pm — Practice 2
    • 7pm — Texas race highlights
    • 8:05pm — Qualifying
    • 12am — Qualifying replay

    Sunday 16th April

    • 5pm — Warmup {only on INDYCAR LIVE}
    • 6:30pm — Qualifying replay
    • 8pm — Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach
      • 8:45pm — Green flag

It's going to be interesting to see if Kyle Kirkwood can capitalise on his first Indycar race from a pole to a win. I haven't been convinced about him so far despite some flashes but that was a massive leap for him yesterday to take pole in the next biggest race outside of the Indy 500

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,692 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

Kirkwood has yet to shake out the mistakes neglecting great results. This race is always a good one. Let's go dudes 😂

That move by Pato was not on, not even a good overtaking spot. Completely taking his teammate out of the race at the front.

Those incidents with Pato yesterday do nothing for any claims that he deserves an F1 drive

What a great dominating performance by Kirkwood yesterday, great to see those Andretti cars competitive again really going to add to the unpredictability for this season

    INDY OPEN TEST WEEK

Right, things are a little different this week — teams are headed back to the Speedway for the traditional pre-May oval test. As an Open Test (at a track where the broadcast infrastructure is already in place, mind you) this will be broadcast live!

Now the early weather signs are not looking good for Day 2, suggesting that it will rain out all day; but Day 1 is looking perfect. Do remember that this is the mid-West though, and forecasts can change very quickly; so we'll have a better idea by Wednesday evening.

And the best news for all of us is that Sky will have all (the initially scheduled) thirteen hours of coverage!

    Thursday 20th April

    • 4–6pm: Veterans only practice
    • 6–8pm: Rookie Orientation Program; and refresher tests
    • 8–11pm: Full-field practice

    Friday 21st April

    • 3–9pm: Full-field practice

Owing to the threat of rain on Friday, tomorrow's session has been brought up an hour, and had 90 minutes added on.

Presumably Sky will extended to cover it, but EPG does not reflect this as of yet.

    Thursday 20th April

    • 3–5pm: Veterans only practice (after a brief install lap phase)
    • 5–7pm: Rookie Orientation Program; and refresher tests
    • 7–11:30pm: Full-field practice

So yesterday was a complete rainout, unfortunately. ROP was shuffled to this morning, which Enerson has completed. Now onto today:

Dixie please, it's been less than eight minutes.

Good news! (if you can even call it good given the circumstances)

Following the cancellation of the F1 this weekend, Sky Sports F1 will now be showing all remaining sessions this week live and in full.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,718 ✭✭✭Infoanon

Looking forward to pole day today ,

4 McLarens,4 Ganassis,2 Foyts (!) ,1 Penske and 1 ECR battling it out for top 6 and then Pole ,

At the other end of the grid 4 cars will fight it out for the 3 final spots , all Hondas , Graham Rahal at the bottom of the time sheets and his car looking undriveable despite having the same settings as team mate and qualified Katherine Legge. Jack Harvey and Lundgaard also in the bottom 4 and joined by Sting Ray in his Dale Coyne racing car.

    Great stuff so far

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,692 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

Well that was something by Jack Harvey. The drama 🤣 Graham Rahal got bumped from the race.

The literal tiny margins between success and failure made some cracking drama last night in both fast 6 and bumping, some balls Harvey showed to pull that off he was probably going to lose that ride if he failed to make the race

Stefan Wilson ruled out of the Indy 500 with a back injury. That's very unfortunate. It's a shame he and Katherine has a crash together in practice.

Graham Rahal is taking over Wilson's seat for the race.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,718 ✭✭✭Infoanon

Very unlucky for Stefan , Graham is a good and deserved replacement choice which will prove very popular.

I was very impressed with Graham yesterday when he made it clear that he would not buy a seat into the 500 .

Who knew a few hours later Dennis Reinhold would be making a call to Graham, a Honda driver slotting into a chevy !

The race itself looks to be a 4 way fight between Ganassi, Penske, McLaren and the surprise package - Foyt.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,692 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

Felix has been very fast. I could very well see him keep up the front during the race, provided he can avoid getting into difficulties with other drivers being too aggressive.

Those DRR cars have been competitive in the race for the past two 500s Graham and RHR is some lineup. He has gone from the low of Sunday to now back in the race with a decent car much better than the draggy Rahal cars and he gets to keep his sponsors happy bringing them over to DRR for the race. Imagine if he pulled off the win he has an outside chance at now!

Obviously gutted for Stefan hope he makes a swift recovery nasty crash that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,718 ✭✭✭Infoanon

Who would have thought that the Indy 500 pit stop competition would be so entertaining,

Great for the fans , great for the sponsors , great for the unknown heroes ie the pit crews ,

Surprisingly a lot of errors being made - lose wheel nuts , lose tyres , Jack slow to engage - all need to be ironed out for Sunday.

People knock Monaco for being boring, I've watched almost 90 laps of this and pretty much nothing has happened.

Now something has. Grosjean in the wall.. two strategies now with 50 laps to go.

The pit lane is absolutely mental and borderline dangerous

There’s still a pit stop left for the leading teams? Ferrucci just in.

Looks like the wheel hit some parked cars between the grandstand and the other building.

Looks like it hit a car in the parking lot between grand stands. Hope it didn't get anyone.

Yes, could have wiped a few people out if it went into the grandstand. Also a close call in the F2 race today, Victor Martins not slowing enough for double waved yellows

So who do we think will take the victory? 😁

    Jesus Pato!

    Wow. Carnage

Wonder what happened with the second and third car that went off. Move looked a bit desperate

    Pato you utter idiot!

Talented as hell but with zero temperament though a competent strategist would have ensured he wouldn't have messed up that first restart with 9 to go losing a lap with his clear advantage of fresher tyres

    Here we go again.
