I closed my current account with AIB about a month ago. I just found out that the 2 years I was on stamp 1G are reckonable towards citizenship, so I'm going to need bank statements from my closed account as proof of residency (from the years 2018 and 2019). I had been opted in to e-statements (which I of course never actually downloaded), so I was never mailed any statements. If I go to an AIB branch, will they be able to help me out? I still have a savings account with AIB.

Hi purpleplatypus as far as I remember banks hold on to your account records for 7 years, so you should be ok. Go into the branch and ask one of the customer service reps. Best of luck

They should be able to help you, but may want to charge you significantly for retrieving the files from the archives.

If it's only a month ago, it shouldn't be that big a deal particularly if your savings account was in the same branch.

You'll probably save yourelf some time by going into the actual branch even though everything should be online at this stage.

Good luck with it, and good luck with the citizenship journey too!

If you ring them they should be able to post out a statement to you.
