Back in March, I started to suffer from pain in both my knees, this was only slight but as the weeks passed the pain increased and after my last road race the pain was unbearable. I made an appointment in SSC and got an MRI on both knees and I saw the knee specialist who confirmed it was Patellofemoral. I was advised to stop running altogether and I have for the last 5 months. I have been doing exercises but still, have no end in sight and have pain. I was hoping to do the half Marathon in Waterford in December but that's not going to happen.

Can anyone who suffered from Petalla recommend a Physio in Cork?

Have you had any relief from the pain?

I've what we think is an IT Band issue after 6 weeks or so of near complete rest, I tried to do 5k at just over a walk today and couldn't do 100m.

I tried physio and an exercise program provided but it didn't work for me, I still had pain in both knees. I took a break altogether from running for 9 months and my knee pain has finally gone since January. I have gone on a couple of short runs and they seem to be ok.

Hopefully that's the end of it for you.

I'm over 3mths of complete rest and starting to hopefully come to the other side.

That's in addition to Physio, Physical Therapist, stretching, dry needling, foam rolling etc etc.

As injuries go, this was horrible. I had never heard of it before. In the end, i was told complete rest was needed from any form of exercise impacting my knees by a specialist. I did a bit of cycling and recently started doing hamstring exercises that were recommended and thankfully zero pain.
