Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

No hope of seeing it in the pub so lol.

Honestly do I love it do. By the time I wake up tomorrow FP1 should be on You-Tube already and maybe even FP2 as well.

The same on Saturday with FP3 and then I can watch the Quali on C4.

Then cine Subday and not long to wait after getting up to watch the race so all good with me.

I remember when I used to wake up are 5 or 6am to watch them live on the BBC while lying in bed. Them were the days lol.

    Not bothered now do.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

And he Misses FP2 cause chassis has to be changed .

That'll help his chances with staying on the grid next year...

It’s increasingly likely that his days in F1 are numbered.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,893 ✭✭✭Hijpo

Himself and Danny Ric might be better off in ESports

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,559 ✭✭✭✭El_Duderino 09

I think that's OK. He's had a chance anf he's not very good. It might have been great if he was a superstar but that's not the reality. He's still young (only 23) so could have a good career ahead of him. But probably not in F1.

eugh thats such a massive drop that I doubt either would consider that.

Could see the both of them getting support driver roles now.

Yep, he’s has enough time to prove himself at this stage. His father is a personal hero so I did love seeing a MSC on the board again but this is competitive sport, not a Rocky movie.

I can see him possibly doing well in DTM.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,951 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

I'd love to see him do what Albon has done, go off and rebuild a bit, and possibly come back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,446 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Unlike Albon though, he hasn't really shown that there's much else to build on to get him back into the sport. I'd be surprised if he leaves that he'll ever come back to F1, will likely end up in a different series (The Race had a podcast a while back suggesting he'd end up in WEC)

Gasly and Tsunoda having trouble with brakes, Tsunoda make it into Q2 but Gasly doesn't and he is not very happy.

Latifi escapes a 5 place grid penalty by being 20th anyways.

Good to see Ricciardo not being completely useless in qualifying

Well that fan can’t do worse then the current Ferrari team.

Daniel ricciardo out but it looks like he’s got the car working.

Q2 times so very tight, less than a second from first to the drop zone. That was great!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,951 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

track looks like it is ramping up now.

    Max looks on it now.

Crofty hoping that max getting a penalty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,366 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

    Max on pole for tomorrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,295 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

VER gets pole, nobody really improved on their last run.

Only half a tenth between the top three.

Not set in stone as he has some questions to answer with the stewards for that incident involving Norris.

Sometimes I wish he’d just shut the f**k up! Desperate for a pen haha!

I suppose it’s not surprising that Croft immediately assumes Max is more to blame. It’s the opposite, Lando could see Max was going slow ahead both on an out lap, then decided to boot it blind through 130R, silly that was.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,823 ✭✭✭Captain_Crash

I’d be surprised if it was anymore than a reminder to the two of them to drive safe! Norris could see Max going slow ahead from a couple of hundred meters back and still kept the foot down, and Max lost the arse at the worst possible moment!

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,498 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

DiResta wondering was Max trying to block Lando. What.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,823 ✭✭✭Captain_Crash

Jesnsen saying there was a white flag for Lando but he wouldn’t have seen it because he was going too quick? What type of argument is that lol

Sky seem to be certain of a pen…. Im still not sure. Maybe a few points on the license for Max as having seen it again it was his error, but Landos pace up behind compounded matters despite the white flag and having a visual of Max up ahead.

Seems everyone sky interviewed including Lando are angling for a penalty.

Karun is brilliant on the video analysis.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 937 ✭✭✭mun1

Ted caught up with VEr and Nor coming out of stewards meeting and seems it a big box of nothing.

didnt stop him harping on about “maybe he should be thrown out of qualifying, ha, ha “.

    What a shower of G🦉s

Reprimand for Max and he keeps pole.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,045 ✭✭✭✭Jordan 199

A good qualifying for Ocon (5th) and Alonso (7th). Hopefully no reliability issues for Alpine tomorrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,823 ✭✭✭Captain_Crash

Prob right and all! It’s funny that the FIA decision specified that the precedent for such an infraction is a reprimand, yet sky kept going on about a pen being the most likely outcome and even mentioned they’ll look at precedent for it and that’s why it’ll be a pen 😂😂

Max looks good out there, but so do both Ferrari drivers.

It will be difficult for him to seal the championship without trouble for his rivals as we might see the late dash for fastest lap by another driver and Max needs the win and the fastest lap.

I don't think he needs fastest lap, it would secure the win though.

Max, Perez, Leclerc would win it for Max, according to the graphics I've seen with the possible ways to win.

Yeah I think if he wins and gets fastest lap it doesn't matter what anyone else does.

You are right then he might not need the fastest lap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,028 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

I think Max has to out score Checo by 6 points and LeClerc by 8 points to win the championship

So Max just needs to outscore Leclerc by 8 and Sergio by 6 points to be Champion in Japan.

So if Max wins without getting the fastest lap and Leclerc comes second then he will not be Champion yet and if Leclerc gets fastest lap he certainly will not be. So Max needs Leclerc to finish 3rd or lower. So yes Ninja Trunks above is right.

I would say staying out of trouble is the priority for Max - if I’ve done my maths right he could finish 3rd behind the Ferraris tomorrow and then only need 5th or better in Austin, presuming wins + fastest laps for Leclerc.

Having said that I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see him win it tomorrow!

He is probably the best part of the Sky coverage apart from Martin. But that bar is so low it aint saying much

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,498 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

Most of the Sky broadcast these days is quite annoying I find - Croft and Lazenby are the worst. The sight of Croft in the commentary box reading out specific articles from the rule book was completely cringeworthy imo - posing leading questions to the normally fair Jenson was not right either (so not right 😂). Then the first thing out of Lazenby's gob to Horner was about the incident, not Max's pole lap. Same goes for that Scottish twat interviewing Lando in the pen - 'was he trying to block you?'. What sort of dumbass thinking is that - yeah, Max on the verge of another title, saw Lando steaming towards him and decided to suddenly veer left to block him potentially causing a nasty accident that would have wrecked his wkend.

What about the more likely scenario that he was going slowly (like all the other drivers were at the section) and trying to heat up his tyres and got a snap of over-steer. Lando messed up speeding up like that knowing there was a slow car around the corner. Anyway, no harm done to either.

Brundle, Chandhok and Button are the only sane people left on that team - no surprise they are all ex-racers.

Ocon has been keeping his head down and quietly going about his business the last while. He's going well. Comes across as a nice guy too!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,279 ✭✭✭✭MadYaker

Surely Max should have gotten a penalty for near causing a crash with Lando?? Reprimand seems very soft.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,028 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

Lando going as fast as he was had plenty to play in the incident too, there's no damage done and nobody lost anything from it so I think a reprimand is fair

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,790 ✭✭✭✭Burkie1203

Fairly Standard from previous similar incidents

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,518 ✭✭✭NinjaTruncs

I would imagine if Norris was on a hot lap Max would have gotten a penalty, but given they were both on out laps it's harder to say he actually impeded Norris. If Max got a penalty for this, every time anyone goes slow on a out lap to make space and slows the driver behind they'll need to get a penalty.

Ocon hasn't been a great team mate especially with Checo and plenty of incidents with other drivers. From what I've seen Gasly and Ocon don't exactly get on that well so be interesting to see how that plays out
