Blocking Ads on Smart TV Youtube App

    Is this possible?

Have a 3 year old LG tv with WebOS. I like the Youtube app, works well with remote etc, but the ads are getting infuriating.

Have had a look online and have tried adding LG specific ad server addresses to my routers block list. Has no affect.

Tried an adblocking DNS address in the TV's network settings. No affect.

Can this be done without doing stuff like rooting the TV to install different apps etc. I don't really want to risk anything that could brick the thing as I cannot replace it at the moment.

Take out a sub to YouTube premium. Plenty of instructions on boards to show to do this quite cheaply and will remove all the ads.
