Long term open insurance claim.

So just got a renewal premium in from AA and Allianz. It is showing a 5 mile per hour rear ending claim, which was caught on dashcam as still being "open". It is from 2016 and when we contacted PIAB who wrote to us a couple of years ago, they told us they had declined the claim.

So. Is it reasonable for this to be still open? It will prevent shopping around.

    Thanks all.

PIAB don't accept or decline claims. However, they can decline to assess the matter or they can release it from their jurisdiction to allow the parties commence legal proceedings or settle privately. Unfortunately this can go on until agreement is reached, the case is heard in court, or the plaintiff concedes
