    can someone take money out of my account if i have given my account number and i ban number for them to pay money into my account ?

    No, unless someone at the bank makes a serious error, in which case they would refund any loss.

    That said, Revenue did very recently decide I owed them €24,000 more than I had recently authorised them to take from my account as a tax payment and took that as well, without my permission, and then refused to give details as to why they had done so, and then put it back, admitting they had made an error, again without providing any details.

    But so long as you didn't give the details to Revenue, you should be fine.

    No.

    Many companies put their bank details on every invoice.

    If you give someone a cheque, they have your bank details.

    Most charities publish their bank details on their websites.
