Waterfront is a great venue for this Home Nations event. Very popular with many on the circuit.

Can the lean, mean Mark Allen defend his title?

Can Neil Robertson win to give him a clean sweep of Home Nation titles.

    Is Selby back in business

Will Ronnie blast his way through the field.

Could we see another outsider emerge from the pack?

Only one way to find out.

Looking forward to the week. Snooker weather outside by now.

and Shaun Murphy is thru, with a comfortable 4-0 victory against Xu Si

Trump is on course to win 4-1 here, as has a healthy lead, and still on the table, in frame five,,

could be a deviation from his usual early rounds' brinkmanship in these best of sevens 😊

Ricky Walden goes out - losing 4-1 to Xiao Guodong; first seeded player to be knocked out methinks

Good to see Rachel back in studio - she's 'one of our own' 😁

looking at odds for Selby/Evans match

no odds offered on 'frame betting' - least not on BF

    Over 4.5 frames - 6/5 ; under 4.5 frames 8/13 😁

    thought it's funny meself 😋

EDIT - with same book, Reanne were 80/1 and no odds offered for t'Jester 🤣

    Zhao is gone early doors.

He'd really need to find some form quickly if he is to defend his UK title in York and capitalise on last season.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,165 ✭✭✭Sweet Talkin Romeo

Joe's rewriting history a bit there (albeit, directly after),, Reanne smiled alright, but not cos she 'got away with it' 😂 twas more on account of playing a 'foolish looking' (them thin cut hits always are) shot, and ended up not fouling, after missing intended red 🤗

that necklace Reanne's wearing could well cause her to foul at some stage; ,,, meanwhile, she's gotten a decent chance here, in frame three

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,460 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

Reanne hit that red too hard, no need, should have given it a chance to drop.

Still, Selby is in a match here.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,165 ✭✭✭Sweet Talkin Romeo

she's looking good for 2 apiece here is Reanne 😊

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,165 ✭✭✭Sweet Talkin Romeo

she's gotten plenty "rub a da green" in this frame, has Reanne. might even go ahead yet ! 😮

Modren day snooker commentators have messed up us viewing pleasure a lot, imo

they rarely shut up 😂 and, when they do, a bit of anxiety takes over - it's like I want to scream at me telly: "SAY SOMETHING !" 😂

Hendry about the only one what tends to not mind keeping his trap shut, but he's only on t'Beeb 🤗

back in the days, a viewer could almost watch it in a 'trance-like' state; and just watch, and listen to the sound of the balls clacking - almost hypnotic it were - dem days is gone 🤣😢

You should try watching some of the back tables on Discovery+ app. Yesterday was there not just no commentary, there was also no score-board, and no top cushion or pockets in shot.

Was left to the viewer to work out the score, how many points are remaining, how many reds remain, if a snooker was made etc.

This was a match between 2 Chinese prospects ranked 15th and 41st in world (Yan Bingtao Vs Liang Wenbo)!

I saw a bit of that match on the Eurosport App and while it wasn't a main table match, it certainly had scores and looked acceptable enough. Considering it is first round and not a show table.

Maybe it is the Discovery app.

Think i read somewhere the eurosport app is being phased out and it will all be on discovery from then on, not sure on exact timeline though. As long as we continue to get the bookies feeds, i don't really mind one way or the other!

Ah, Fergal will be kicking himself there, real chance to take that to a decider against higgins, just ran slightly out of position and left himself little awkward one to middle and stayed out. Frustrating game sometimes!

I think Eurosport app is being phased into the Discovery+ app. When I open Eurosport I get:

"Sorry, you can no longer subscribe via the Eurosport Player app. To subscribe, please go to our Discovery+ application, available in the Google Play Store, to enjoy all the Eurosport content and much more."

The bad camera picture was fixed from frame 3 or maybe 4 on. I took a screenshot of it but it came in black (assume Discovery+ app prevents screenshotting).

SHAME ON YA SELBY !! 😒

he hitt dat Yella did Craigie = disgusting from Selby; clear as day - on the replay anyhow

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,165 ✭✭✭Sweet Talkin Romeo

Allen looking good here - 4-0 odds on now!!

Don't think it is as straightforward as that to be honest - we had the benefit of seeing that from a head on camera angle - and even in real time you wouldn't have been 100% sure that it had hit. Selby had the worst view of the lot as the cue ball would have blocked him from seeing the yellow rock.

Like a broken record - they have monitors there so they should use them for instances like that...

Pretty astonishing miss by Ding in the decider against Michael White there. Thin enough pink to middle but didn't think it was anywhere near thin enough to miss the damn ball completely! Anyway, good to see White playing well and progressing, another player who seems to be getting his act together a bit more lately. Far too good a talent not to be getting to business end of tournaments with more regularity.

Feel for Jackson Page if he doesn't win this match but that was a very careless shot on the blue when he was within a couple of pots from the match. Should be sitting on eurosport couch, looking ahead to next round already. Allowed himself to get well and truly Higginsed there.

Huge match for Aaron Hill tonight.

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,311 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Jesus, Jimmy White very aggravated with Williams and receives a warning after words are exchanged and a gesture from Jimmy.

White gets whitewashed 4-0. Had his chances but kept blowing his position.

The Trump vs Hill match is live on Eurosport later .

Jackson Page; can't fault him for trying, but that plant was never likely,, now he's out of the comp as Higgins clears up after

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

Hope Aaron just goes out and enjoys it tonight, nothing to lose really so no need to be putting pressure on himself. Easy to say on the internet, of course! Game still not quite there yet on what i've seen so far this season, but his defeats have come against Gilbert, Hawkins, MJW and Maguire so no real shame in any of it whatsoever. He could really do with a bit more luck in the draws tbf, including this week, but if it all clicks, as it did that night against O'Sullivan, who knows? Looking at Page earlier, he was always a couple of years ahead of Aaron in the juniors, a real good talent i think, but still taking him time to really establish himself as a proper contender. Today was one that got away from him, defeat like that even against one of the greats, can't help mentally. It's a pretty brutal apprenticeship for these guys, you'd have to say!

lovely yellah to middle there from Aaron - hopefully a framewinner

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,654 ✭✭✭Muppet Man

Luck of the Irish at the start but looked very comfortable to win the frame. Delighted for him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,023 ✭✭✭✭Joe_ Public

3 flukes and made the most of the last one. Couple of very loose ones from trump. More of this would be pretty pretty good!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,165 ✭✭✭Sweet Talkin Romeo

plenty of luck Aaron's getting - great help from Judd there! needs to make the most of it before Trump starts getting the rub 🤣

  • Registered Users Posts: 25,311 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

The plant had less risk for Aaron there, 1-1 it should be I think.
