Dairy geyser or gas water heater

I will need a new water heater before long

Any one have any preference to gas or the dairy geyser ??

Can't say for economics of each at the moment but strategy wise I would say electric water heating fits in better with potential solar generation and utilisation

i went dairy geyser, that was a few years ago when gas was alot cheaper than oil

I have 2 renai gas heaters here for the parlor. With gas gone so dear its probably a dearer option but it's instant with no fumes or noise compared to a dairy geser.

got on well no problems, im using rain water, u wouldnt want to be using hard water for either system

Is it possible to get a 12/24volt dc electric immersion heater. We hot wash on the morning so most days we draw off a big amount on the morning and except during calving not much else hot water.currently heat using mostly night rate except during calving but I m thinking about the idea of putting g solar Positioning and just connect it to a immersion heater on the heater.there s 2 elements in it so the 8dea is use the solar on one element to warm the water as much as it can during the day and finish off with night rate.dont want to go down the grant route and get into exporting and certification .

Heat recovery from the tank is another option.Re solar you could do a simple water heating set up totally separate from your Esb supply and feed the night rate heater

will you have to top up the heat on them for washing plant. Have been looking for some thing to pre heat water for gas burners. At present the water has to be heated from about 6-7 degree from the well which is costly as well as been slow.

See a little concourse on that solar water heater on one of the fb groups. Person had it in said it was a great job. Replies came in wondering how that water tank was insulated enough. Person had it said it was and he insulated the pipes from it to his house. He had it as a stand alone unit set up on a frame. Says they're more popular in the likes of Spain. Conclusion...non the wiser.😅

It's says payback is two years going off just over a grand saving in the pdf so 2 grand I assume. Are tubes better than panels? Depending on how expensive it is it may be worth seeing if a heat recovery system on the bulk tank would be a runner maybe?

Tubes are better ya. More surface area. Payback must be away faster now compared to his 2014 figures. Stainless tank a good job too.

I have one with 2 years just boost it on night rate and great if your doing one hot wash a day. Great job in a good summer.
