Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    So i got price for some work on a few bits which i felt the price was very steep but i do not know much about it so was hoping to check here

    Replacement of kitchen mixer tap Hot and cold water valve + installation Kitchen Sink Hole Cover Installation Checked kitchen + sink waste trap system 328 euro

    Repair leaks on 3 valves and fix no hot water problem on the central heating soda. 260 euro

    Any opinions??

    Are they getting the kitchen tap as well or are you buying it?

    Well kitchen mixer tap is around 100e, some types are dearer, up to 130/150 euros. Add in the valves which are few euros each. Replacing the mixer tap takes a while, maybe 30 minutes, it's a fidgety job, have to get in under sink but not crazy difficult job.

    Kitchen sink hole cover costs about 5e or 10e,im not sure exactly.

    Checked kitchen sink waste trap "system"..... Usually just tighten any of the nuts on the traps-manufacturers recommend that you do "hand tight", maybe replace few washers.... Literally 5 minutes work! But I think they taking the mick on this, you'd just check the waste trap as standard anyway, no need to itemise it as though it's a job in itself!

    328 euros, Yes it's a bit dear for the job on kitchen sink. 200/250 including the price of the tap would be a good price.

    2nd) "repair" leaks on 3 valves? Never do that, standard solution is to fit new valves about 5e each .... For 260e? They usually have to drain the water out of the pipes/central heating system so it'd take a while, can take around 1hour or so to drain down, do the job and refill the water into the system ...

    2nd /3rd & No hot water problem? You didn't say what they think is wrong -etc

    But 150e would be a good price if its a stand alone job done on the hot water valves- if done on different day to the kitchen sink. Easily do the 2 jobs at the same time/day-drain water from the pipes and then do kitchen sink tap, once that done then sort the pipe valves etc-they could do a better price for you..... But obviously they won't.

    Btw what part of the country are you in? Curious.
