Is it possible to get a 2nd broadband connection setup in 1 house?

So we already have virgin media 500mbps installed but it's very slow as lots use it so I'd like to get the 1gb option for myself. Is this possible? If so how? Thank you!

Could you be more specific.What is "lots"? We have 250mbps and at times six people use it with no problem.

Why not upgrade the original VM connection to 1GB?

If not, You'd need to sign up to VM as a new customer using a different name from the current account holder and they'd send out the modem for a self-install if you have a spare wall socket that it can be connected to. If not, an engineer would have to come out and install a new one.

You can but not from VM. It would have to be another provider either SIRO or OpenEir. For a short period I had both VM and SIRO active in the house before dropping my VM connection.

As others have said though it might be easier to just get the faster connection. Although the 50mb upload was always a bottleneck for me.

Are you finding the 500 slow, or are you finding Virgin's appalling wireless hardware slow?
