Electric bikes are a great way to get around, save money, and protect the environment, but while electric bike riding is fun, they still require attention to electric bike safety practices to ensure your fun ride can continue as safely as possible. Riding an electric bicycle is similar to riding a regular bicycle, and all the safety rules that apply to bicycles also apply to electric bicycles. Electric bike riders should also take note of some additional precautions to help them stay safe on the road.

    1. Wear a helmet

Buy a helmet designed for e-bike riders for better impact protection. Although wearing a helmet looks simple, it can save your life in an emergency. The helmet provides all-around protection for your head, and the tinted screen and upper lip physically block sunlight from your eyes, keeping you warm in winter.

    2. Use your lights

To ride safely at night, bright lights are a must. Equip your e-bike with lights in addition to the reflectors that come standard with e-bikes. Most horror bike stories take place at night, so use the white headlights and rear red lights when riding at night. Turn on bright headlights so you can see the road ahead; bright taillights so other vehicles on the road can see you from a distance.

It's also a good idea to have lights on your helmet, the flashing lights will greatly reduce your chances of being hit by a car.

    3. Use a warning device

Normally, riding an e-bike is silent, and people walking and driving won't notice your presence. So, it is necessary to take some precautions to stay safe. Make sure your e-bike has a bell and horn.

To alert the car to your presence, use the horn; to warn pedestrians, use the bell. Don't use bells and horns wrong, pedestrians will be disgusted if you use the horn!

These warning devices can help you avoid a potential collision. In addition, you also need to check whether your speakers are loud enough, if not, they need to be repaired or replaced.

    4. Follow the traffic rules for cycling

It looks easy, but it's easy to ignore traffic rules while riding. The main thing is to ride on the right path, not the wrong way, which increases the likelihood of the bike ahead hitting you.

If you can drive the posted speed limit on the road, drive in the lane. In many urban areas, especially downtown and commercial centers, speeds rarely exceed 25-30 mph. Also, when a car hits the road, they check for other cars in the middle of the road and often miss cyclists on the very edge of the road.

    5. Keep tires properly inflated and check wheels

It is very important to keep the tires at the correct pressure by following the instructions in the e-bike manual. With proper inflation, this not only helps you improve your e-bike's range, but also reacts quickly to avoid collisions, it also gives you more control.

Make sure the tire pressure is within the manufacturer's recommended value. Check it with a rubric. If the pressure is normal, continue to verify that the front wheel is securely attached. To check it, you need to hold the handlebar with one hand. Then, with the other hand, try to move the wheel left and right. The wheels shouldn't move at all.

Knowing the safety tips for e-bike travel, you can be sure that you will spend many hours of fun on your e-bike. Take advantage of the many benefits of riding an electric bike, from saving on gas and parking to increasing your health and fitness! Riding an electric bike should be an enjoyable experience. Staying safe is your best bet to keep it that way.
