It depends hugely on budget and their relationship to you. Seeing as you said a generic "most girls", then I'm assuming we're not talking daughter/sister/best friend/niece. If they're more distant to you, in that you wouldn't easily know what they'd like, then I'd go with a gift card to a good department store - Brown Thomas, Arnotts etc.
