Civil service pension - notification of death

Apologies if wrong area, or if it's been answered before, but googling provides no clear answer. My Dad recently passed away and was in receipt of a Civil Service pension. Does anyone know who we should inform so that the pension is adjusted so that my mother receives a widow's pension instead? Many thanks.

Hi sorry about your dad. He would have had a remittance notice on every pension pay date (usually monthly or bi-monthly) it will say at the top of that who is paying the pension.

Sorry for you loss. You should probably contact hrcontact@nssi.gov.ie and give you father's PPSN and date of birth, letting them know he passed away. They should at least be able to tell you how to go about it.

Phone the NSSO payroll on 0818 107100 between 9 and 1. They will stop his payments.

Have your dad's employee number or Pps number to hand.
