Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Main Breaker tripping

    Hi all,

Had a strange one happen to me the other day. Was in my house by myself and 80A single pole isolator located in the meter cabinet tripped. I was using a shower at the time. A plumber installed the shower and I wired it over a year ago as I'm a qualified sparks. I didn't have any issues with the shower before. The only other appliances on at that time were the TV and a few lights. I'm assuming it's something to do with the shower as it just cut out after bout 10 mins of use and the isolator tripped. Nothing tripped at the fuseboard which is what worried me most. I have a 40A rcbo backing up the shower that I wired in 10sq. Isolator wouldn't reset, so i turned off all mcbs at the DB and then reset the isolator. Turn everything on again at DB and everything worked fine. I left the shower run again for at least 10 mins and all was fine.

Just wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this before? Had earth leakage in my head as a possible reason, but wouldn't the relevant circuit breaker have tripped first at the DB?

Any info or help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

I presume that's an 80amp MCB in the cabinet , main protective device

It shouldn't be tripping there anyway. Could be a an issue with the MCB itself

    Hi kirk,

That's correct. And you could be right. That could well be the issue. Might look at changing that out if it happens again!

    Thanks.
