Farmers with land adjacent to towns, villages and cities need to check if they could be liable to a new land tax in the new year. If you own such land there's only a few weeks to lodge an appeal. It can be checked on your local coco website, look for the development plan. IFA are working on it also

I was reading an article in the Farmers Journal about it a couple of weeks ago and I meant to post a link on F&F. The article has a link to a map that shows the areas that the County Councils are proposing to rezone. Link to the article -

Looks like it's going to be 3% of the value. Looking at some of the land near here and a single field could be in 3 different zones, agricultural, residential and village centre. A developer won't want to buy ag zoned land and a farmer won't want to be farming beside a new housing estate.
