Down light not flush to ceiling

    One of the spotlights in our kitchen is not flush and drops on one side:

    I thought maybe the spring had been busted, but I can’t manage to get it out of the ceiling to check.

    I get as far as this:

    The silver square piece of metal appears to have something on the end of it that is preventing the fitting from coming out.

    In fact the location of that silver square coincides with exactly where it drops from the ceiling.

    Is there any way to remove these without having to cut a hole in the ceiling?

    Keep pulling it out. That metal bracket is L shaped (away from the fitting)so you’ll need to angle the fitting slightly as you pull.
