Hi All,

Quick ask re recommendations on a decent Front light for mostly commuting, occasionally on unlit roads.

Losing the will with the Magicshine light, its not holding its charge at all, (about 2 years old). Got another set on Amazon, pure waste! Ideally looking for something that will not need to be charged after 2 hours cycling but is still bright enough to see what's ahead of me.

Budget is up to ~€100.

you’ll get about 18 hours out if this if set to 250lumens and 3 hours if set to 1600

it saves the last setting and has lots of different settings highly recommend it

I see they have a newer version. I’ve never tried it do can’t comment

Slightly ahead of your budget but I got this set about a year ago. I find them good and reliable. Rear light lasts about 5 hours n day flash and the front light lasts 6 or more hours on day flash. I don't use them on unlit roads but the front light is supposed to last 1.5 hours on full power. Charge time is 3-4 hours.

Definitely worth considering.

Appreciate that @ted1 and @crosstownk , will research them in the morning. Would never have associated Halfords with good spec cycling stuff, but every days a learning.

I use one of these and am very happy with it. €60 on Amazon now. I use mine on 400 constant/1100 flash combination. Cateye claims that gives you 6.5 hours, which seems about right. It’ll give you 1.5 hours on full power and is perfect for unlit roads.

I have a Fenix TK12 light for over 10 years and it's been brilliant, very well made and out in all weathers and never a problem. It uses a single 18650 battery which I like and even now all these years later (batteries are around the same age) I get about 3hrs from it before it dims. Easy to recharge a few batteries at a time so just pop in a new battery when needed.

14km each way commute of which some of it is on unlit country roads and used year round both summer and winter. Have also used it on some long distance Audax rides a number of years ago and despite it only being 240 (I think) lumens it has got me over the night on unfamiliar roads. Thinking of getting an additional light as you can never really have enough and seen the Fenix BC30 V2 recommended on another thread so that’s certainly tempting, looks the business with 2200 lumen max output and would favour sticking with Fenix and 18650 batteries.

A unisex light?? That's a new one on me! :D

That Halfords one looks like a beast, and if it comes with the under-garmin mount pictured then that's very clever.
