Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can Wales do it on Giggsy's birthday.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,025 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Pulisic, all the pace in the world, creates an overload - and then ignores the player beside him and runs straight into the defender.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,914 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

Everyday was Giggs birthday! The amount of fun he had.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Hope George pushes that loud commentator over the edge of the stand.

This comment is probably better in the other thread.

Poor auld Danny Ward, described as Leicester City reserve goalkeeper, after starting every Leicester game this season 😅

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,842 ✭✭✭crushproof

Good start for both the US and Iran here, already setting up a cracking game.

On a side note I always enjoy the crowd shots of Iran fans, the women are simply beautiful!

Big plus for them having Walker back..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,914 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

There is a real air of tension in it. I think England will go through the motions in the other one.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

Henderson shouldn't be starting for England.

Definitely not in their best 11 - but I'd say after how lazy and lethargic and weak they were in the last game he's been brought in to just keep the intensity up. If there's one thing Hendo can still do, it's keeping on top of his own players to keep them switched on.

    Wales are awful.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,067 ✭✭✭✭martingriff

    That hurt

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Pulisic puts the US in front. Nice move. Pulisic takes a whack in the process.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,637 ✭✭✭theoneeyedman

    Pulesic puts USA one up.

They finally get some use out of a Dest run down the right.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Deserved lead for USA, nice simple header by Dest finished off by Pulisic.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,067 ✭✭✭✭martingriff

That hurt he is not coming back on he looks as he is in trouble

    Edit. Maybe not

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,232 ✭✭✭TheRiverman

Just saw Bale, I thought he had gone home, totally anonymous again tonight.

    Hulk Hogan 1-0 Iron Sheikh

Harry Maguire is England's best player so far.

The USA scored a second through McKennie but it was ruled out for offside.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,025 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Would love to see the lines on that one - he looked bang in line. Peach of a goal, real shame for it to be ruled out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

That's a hell of a tight offside, was a lovely ball and finish

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,940 ✭✭✭omega man

Wales got a free around the centre there a while ago but opted for a short ball which inevitably went backwards ending with the keeper. Why not try into the box when they have a big old school striker up front?

England are average but Wales are just pure awful. Pity Ukraine didn’t beat them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,232 ✭✭✭TheRiverman

    Bale gone, not a surprise.

Ian Rush doing some punditry on the BBC I see. First time l’ve ever seen him on the telly I think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,458 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

Liam Brady and Duffer didn't hold back on saying how crap the England-Wales match 😂

    Bale was non existent anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60,928 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Bale would have been better off being a late sub for Wales instead of starting these games.

bale has been equally awful and not arsed, you think he would at least run around for his last world cup game, stuck him up front now at least.

The manager has let them down the whole world cup

    Great strike by Rashford.

    Savage free.

    And now Foden, game over,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

2-0 Foden. Kane put it on a plate. Game over.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,179 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Ah that's poor goalkeeping from Danny Ward. And letting Rashford of all people score from a free kick. Pfft!

    2-0 now.

    Slop from Wales.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,232 ✭✭✭TheRiverman

Bottom line, Wales have been dire.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,129 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

The results don't look as bad but Wales 2022 has an awful bang of Ireland 2012 about it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,662 ✭✭✭CalamariFritti

Some terrible stuff form the Welsh defence there.

Ward in no-mans land for the admittedly good free kick and Davies giving it to Harry Kane right at their own box.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,943 ✭✭✭✭Kermit.de.frog

Wales have been appalling but they are a side in rapid decline so not surprising. Bale and Ramsey never in the tournament really.

    England really fvcked now.

They have to pick Foden and Rashford now. Queue them losing their knock out game with these two completely out of the game and strolling around with their sulky pusses on them and their lips hanging! Gareth can't drop either of them now

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,254 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

    Awful goalkeeping.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,433 ✭✭✭funkey_monkey

Commentator on BBC said there was nothing Danny Ward could do - it was right in the corner. There was a bit of pace on it, but it was nowhere near the corner when it went in from that angle. Any decent keeper should have kept it out, but I think Wales are lacking quality throughout the team.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Rashford gets a 2nd. Wales well and truly beaten.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 405 ✭✭Dingaan

Harsh to say he's not arsed playing for Wales. He's simply finished, his legs are gone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,943 ✭✭✭✭Kermit.de.frog

    BBC mentioning 66. They believe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,507 ✭✭✭✭castletownman

Who'd have thought that essentially not giving a crap at club level for a few years now would come back and bite a fella on the biggest stage?

    No sympathy for him whatsoever.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,129 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

He seems to get a lot of leeway about the age thing. He is 33 so should not really be burnt out. All that fking about at Real playing golf is what's cost him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,232 ✭✭✭TheRiverman

    Silly hair on for England.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,232 ✭✭✭TheRiverman

He has been an embarrassment for his country at this World Cup.
