Servicing a cheap-ish Seiko

I have a Seiko that I got in the late 90's - wasn't too expensive (about €250), but recently I went to get the batteries changed as it seems to be needing more batteries every cycle. They used to last 3+ years, later every year, now it's stopped again after the last battery.

Timpson guy asked me if I ever has it serviced and I said no. He said ideally it should be serviced every five years.

How much would it cost and could you recommend anyone?

Prob cheaper to replace the movement. Perhaps some here may assist in that?

Ah no way lol, one of my fave seiko quartz movements, that and the later 7t62 which I still wear.

Unfortunately my wife budled this

..into the wash with some clothes so it's on my list to fix also. Very special watch for me for sentimental reasons. Love the 7t32, the second time zone/alarm function would wake me up for college every morning. It was my first real watch so to speak and cemented my seiko addiction.

I would suggest asking the lads here whos best to bring it to for a replacement movement which should run you about 50 euro to buy and perhaps an hour to swop the movement in and dial/hands over. They're a great watch, have it fixed and enjoy it.

Here is the later 7t62 which I adore and is an extraordinary time keeper, I installed a double dome ar sapphire crystal into it, difficult to find one which matched dimensions.

So bummed I missed this lesser spotted ti version, nos and all!

hi all

can i tag on to this please.

i have two old 70s seiko automatics that have stopped, is it easy to replace the movement as i feel too that would be the cheaper option and i might learn something, these watches were cheap off adverts (100 bucks each roughly) and i think may be frankenwatches but i like both, one has a 6119a and the other a 7s36, are the movements the same diameter in general, could i swap out both for nh36's, i was just going to buy a cheap kit and the movements and have a go, i assume the hand removal and refit is the trick but? any tips welcome (or if there is somewhere worth sending them) many thanks

Nh36 is an unbranded Seiko 4R36 movement and a direct replacement/upgrade to the 7s36.

The other movement has a few options but much harder to get (and certainly not new, so maybe replacing one set of problems for others). It's a more well built movement so might be worth getting serviced depending on value to you.
