Resident's Associations-Whats App Group ( Admin)

Can anyone advise on the setting up of a What's App Group or similar so that the resident's association can communicate with residents a few times a year regarding AGMs , association fees, and issuing receipts for same. The group will be an admin only setup and will be set up in a way that messages can only come from admin.

Has any other group set up a system similar to this? How how to go about getting a number to message from? And is it possible to message from a laptop rather than a phone handset?

    Thanks in advance.

You can install whatsapp on a PC

I'd have 3 admins - all on the committee.

I'd have rules that the group is for official resident assoc. communication and delete any message that is not connected to the subject and explain that this is done to ensure the group does not get cluttered.

Best to use email for receipts. Possibly look at setting up a sum-up account and online portal for fees (very easy and ensures transparent reporting)

You can setup the WhatsApp group so only the admins can send messages, this is done in "group settings" "send messages" and then select "admins only"

You can send receipts to individuals of the WhatsApp group.

You normally need a phone number to initially setup WhatsApp and then you can link it to a PC.

There are ways of getting around setting up WhatsApp without a phone but it can be too messy and you are better of to keep things simple.

Normally people use their own phones for WhatsApp.

To start off one person will setup the group and can add people from their contacts list if they have their phone numbers on their phone, if they don't have their phone numbers they can ask people for them or send them an invite link via email or any other method. The person that does all the initial work can assign admins in the group settings. Any of the admins will be able to add new people to the group.

The original Admin can drop out if desired. As long as there is another admin or more then the group will still function.
