Axl Rose has decided that he won’t throw his microphone into crowds at the ends of his sets anymore after clocking a lady square in the face.

I’m genuinely torn about this.

On the one hand, what exactly did he think would happen? On the other hand, he thought what normally happens over the last 30 years would happen and a happy fan would go home with a special microphone.

Do I want to get hit in the face with a microphone? Or do I want to live in a world where Axl Rose can throw a microphone at me any day he wants?

Putting it like that, I think I know which side I’m on.

Anyway, thoughts?

Reasonable reaction. He is probably anticipating getting sued.

seeing as the state it’s left her in you’d be mad not to cash in on this Axl is going to be sued for it.

Now, when that case is inevitably before the courts (if they don’t settle) the judge would take a dim view were he still doing it after what happened.

It’s to save face or he feels bad about it or both. I find it hard to accept it’s for less than selfish reasons because it’s Axl Rose.

edit: there’s also likely some part of this that’s out of his hands when I think more about it. Venues may be less willing to book him if they’re worried about someone being hurt and the repercussions to their business/reputation/brand.

In fairness his mics are awesome and any fan would be happy to go home with one , What’s happening now is people are being charged extra cash to stand in the golden circle who normally Wouldn’t venture up that far

Ka-ching! Dead right too. Horsing a half kilo lump of metal was never a good idea, but people now realise they can sue for just about anything, albeit this is a genuine one, she got messed up. If it wasn't this, eventually someone would have sued for mental and physical anguish for being "crushed" by people trying to get the mic after it was thrown.

What I find far worse is his constant use of the letter r instead of the word our.
