An Post Current Account Lodgement

My adult daughter has an An Post current account.

At any other bank it is a simple matter to make a cash or cheque lodgement to her account, but it doesn't seem to be possible with An Post?

The person behind the counter said that transactions can only be made using their bank card.

This seems like nonsense (understandable for a withdrawal) but I can't find any info on line.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Hi, have a look at the Terms and Conditions https://www.anpost.com/Money/Current-Account/Current-Account-Terms-Conditions. Section 4.0 "Paying Funds into your Current Account" clearly states that lodgements can be made at post offices, and mentions daily cash lodgement limits and also cheque lodgements, so it would seem the person behind the counter was unfamiliar with this. It happens.

    Thanks for this.

4.0 Paying money into your Current Account

    1. Funds may be lodged into your Current Account by you (and/or your joint account holder) or electronically by any other third party.

Unfortunately this seems to suggest that only the account holder(s) can make lodgements - third parties can only do this electronically - this is poor banking if correct.

You need to read the section in its entirety, not cherry pick. It clearly states that only the account holder or joint account holders can make lodgements in person, all others must be via ETF. So the person behind the counter does know exactly what the rules are.

Ah sorry OP, I hadn't realised from your first post that the issue was with lodging into someone else's account rather than one's own. Agreed the T&Cs suggest this isn't possible.

Hmmm. They advertise as being an alternative to the main banks, but this doesn't really seem to be the case.
