Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Replacing a Lockshield Valve

Can this be done without draining the system?

I've tried to remove a radiator and in the process of doing so when turning off the lockshield the top twisted/deformed. Is this a plumber job or can I do it myself? It was a bit stiff, but was moving - and then just folded in on itself.

Might be possible to just replace that stem part. Not a job for the inexperienced without draining down.

I was hoping that the stem could be replaced without calling in a plumber. Dammit.

Does this happen to these parts often or was hamfisted/unlucky?

I was using an adjustable spanner as opposed to the correct key.

Never happened me, but I've came across a bent one that wasn't leaking, so I didn't touch it.

    Is yours leaking?

No, but I need to remove the radiator. Valve seems stiff/seized even though I used WD40 on it and tapped it a few times.

    It's this type here:
