I am looking at a Skoda Fabia Ambition 2019 1 LTR 75 BHP 92,000 km €13500. I need it for traveling to Galway from Kerry return one day a week. Thats about 400 + km and also one other trip a month to Galway return. Would a litre be able for this journey. Someone told me that it would be like a lawn mower??? I was offered a 2 year full warranty for the above price. Any help would be very much appreciated.

It will do it but it won't be the most comfortable journey in a small car with a small engine. At least half of that will be DC/motoway driving too where the engine will be roaring a bit due to the lack of a 6th gear at 100/120 kph.

Would you not look at something a bit bigger like a Seat Leon?

1.5 litre engine would probably be every bit as frugal as a 1.0 litre for that driving as it will be under less stress and better suited to motorway driving.

Woops, I see that the car you are looking at is costing 13500. The Leon I linked above is way more expensive but the rest of what I said is still valid.

I did Portugal for a week in one and it was perfectly capable of maintaining speed once you eventually get there (similar to an older 1.4 Golf) but when there’s so much else nicer out there why would you bother?

Could you look for one with the bigger 90hp engine?

A Renault Clio 1.2 is well able to do it.

I know as there have been several Clios in my family.

Motorway driving is no bother to them and its a great little engine too.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.
